winter ride... since I broke my CX bike...
garlatti gas pipe / columbus EL fork / ofmega super competizione cranks / record bits / deore dx pedals / 3ttt record + itm + 105 levers / santé front brake, universal rear
looking to change the whole front-end soon, use my other universale centerpull with a bigger clearance fork, but still high end columbus.

My city bike got stolen last week so I was looking for a pic for my declaration at the police station, and then I realised I didn't have any (the Brussels police don't need pics BTW, the Brussels police are of the hear no evil see no evil type). Anyway, I made some sort of a collage of the bike's distinctive features with internet pics: that exact Batavus frame, an ITM stem, the barends from the pic with matching tape (amazing since my setup was 15 years old!) and black plastic fenders. A farewell pic, so to speak. I had this bike for nearly 20 years and did a good deal of cyclo-camping with it.

BURN, bike thieves, BURN !!
I hope you can get it back. Just cause it's gas pipe, don't mean it can't be loved !

A German built Markant, guessing from the mid 80's. Nothing to indicate what type of tubing, but it has a nice ride.
Upgraded to a Suntour Allegro RD and Suzue/Ukai wheels.

A few years back I restored this 1973 Schwinn Varsity. I tore it apart, sand blasted the frame, painted it with Duplicolor paint out of a rattle can, new tires, bar tape, cables, polished everything and then proceded to ruin it with crappy non accurate vinyl stick on letters lol. I wish I knew back then that you could get reproduction decals. Still, the old bike rode great.

I wish I could put up a pic, but the frame is residing with a friend in Vancouver. I mention it because — curiously — it is Hi-Ten, but it is double-butted! It says so right on the frame. It's an early 80's Miyata that I bought years ago, and a model that I have never been able to identify in a catalogue. If I can get it on a plane someday, I might make a townie out of it.
Anybody else got double butted Hi-Ten?

Yep. Had one, unfortunately it was 58cm and while rideable, it was pushing the limit for me. Traded it off to another member here (damn if I can remember who) for a Trek 460 in my size. Adore the Trek, after the experience of the Grand Prix, I will happily dive after any Nottingham Raleigh from the early 80's.
1976 Raliegh Grand Prix Nottingham workshop rebuilt 25lbs ounce I get a lloy post and correct none turkey vintage levers it should be under 24lbs.

I just picked up this Centurion from my local CL. It's in semi-rough shape. It came with plastic pedals that I think had plastic cages, now snapped off. It also has one of the goofiest seats ever. It's a Tange frame+fork with SunTour Blaze components, save for the Shimano 105 cranks. I took it for a 10 mile ride today and it feels really nice.
The first thing I noticed was that the RD wouldn't get to the smallest cog. After adjusting, I realized that someone had intentionally set it up this way because at some point the bike had been "upgraded" with a seven-speed cluster that's too wide--when the chain is on the smallest cog, it rubs against the chainstay.
I'm trying to decide how to fix this--new cluster? Remove the largest cog (never need it around these flat parts) and shift everything over (probably need a spacer of some sort)? Throw the whole bike into the Gulf? All suggestions welcome.
Better pictures to come (camera's battery is on the charger):

people are definitely posting non-gas pipe frames that they consider their beaters.

The bottom end of MANY good names had "GAS PIPE" bikes...it is a bit derogatory....Not EVERYONE can afford a racehorse....Here is the Gas Pipe bomber I am currently working up...YUP...it will be heavy Italian Steel...Nothing special, so NOT spending way more than the bike is worth to rebuild with Italian parts.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Just fitted new wheels to the 1950 Raleigh Sports... 650A Mavics that are double walled and eyeletted and laced to some slightly newer hubs.
It weighs a ton, even with the nice wheelset.
