Bike Refuge Project Update: 73 Scwinn LeTour
About two years ago, I got this bike through a friend who found it in a dumpster somewhere. I repaired the bike so it was usable but I knew I would never sink any real money into it, the way it needed. On top of that, this thing is like a 62 cm and I am 5'8" so you can do the math on how comfortable it was.
(This is what it looked like when I got it.)
That being said, It was the fastest bike I ever took on some roads around here, it just wasn't right. Last year, my best friend had his bike stolen and he never replaced it because he is an adult and just had a kid, was not really worried about it at the time. But he kept talking about how much he missed riding. My friend happens to be 6'3", a much better fit naturally for the LeTour. So the bike continues.
Into the hands of my friend who actually plans on riding it rather than just having it as a collectible in the stable like I did. He put on new wheels, brake levers, replaced, chain, freewheel, and has eve upgraded the tires since the latest picture.
(This is the last picture I have of it when I stopped by his place)
The update is, that he likes this bike just as much as his old bike which was a brand new specialized Hybrid. It has also turned him on the likes of road riding much quicker than he anticipated.

One man's trash is another man's treasure, always seems to be true.
