@wrk101 talked me into buying this frame set from him. The reason I bought it was for the SR crown race attached to the rear brake bridge! I have tried to sell the frame set several times without a nibble. I guess it is not very desirable.

For kicks, since a couple of other projects are in process, I thought I would build it up and try it out. In sifting through my stuff, I found a complete 105 group! Well here we go! The wheels were originally on the Colnago but a set of GP4/SF record hubs replaced them for an all SR group on the Colnago, I digress!

The Masi:

This may be why it won't sell:

Weight without the pump.

Why sell? I could fund a couple of other projects and it is a Gran Corsa not a 3V or Gran Criterium! But it is a sweet ride!

Thank`s. Yes it is still a nice frame but the top Guerciotti from that year had chrome and was SLX. Mine is SL. Not sure if it makes that much of a difference in the ride though?

I could never tell the difference between SL and SLX from the saddle, but SLX weighed that bit more due to the added helical ribbing.

Good to know. That will help me convince myself that I do not need a pretty Tommasini SLX frame that I think I absolutely need.

I just got this Francesco Moser:

The components would indicate it's from early 90s.

The easiest way to tell SL from SLX was at the cash register

Isn't that the truth.

FWIW One of all time favorite bikes to ride is my older Chris Kvale.

Made from SL, it's a dream ride.

It helps that it fits like a nice glove as well.

Yeah, yours is faster, under most conditions...

As an old(er) man i prefer the ride of my 531 and SL bikes to SLX. (If it's not just my imagination, running away with me.) The SLX seems less responsive, but I can't do double blind tests. Be fun to do some, but difficult.

Beautiful bike!

Ha ha - hey, those hubs we've been talking about? The axles aren't ti, they're SLX. I've had to adjust my asking price accordingly

Looks great!

I'm glad you picked her over that mystery bike.

I would pull that saddle back a bit however, and if the shifter cables allow, because they look tight, roll the bars up some. Would make it much more comfortable to ride the hoods I think...

The cables do allow the bars to be tilted upwards, and the reach to the hoods is better. Thank you very much! I'll also search for a shorter stem.

I'm finding my new De Rosa which is SL is slightly more responsive than my Tommasini which is SLX. The De Rosa has newer, lighter, better wheels, and that difference apparently dwarfs the difference in the frames. I'd swap wheels to really make sure that's what's going on, but the De Rosa is 130mm 9 speed, and the Tommasini is 126mm 7 speed in the back. But swapping just the front wheels made a difference that I could notice.
