I'm looking for a 21"-24" lugged steel mountain bike or frame.

There are pics here.

Well if you don't find what your looking for, let me know. I have a 21" 1995 +/- Trek 930 Mt Bike Frame and most of the stuff to put her back together. True Temper chromoly, triple-butted

well I will get in on this game. I have a 1972-73 Peugeot pl-8 that is a tad too big for me (I like to think I'm 5'6" but it is more like 5'3") 57 cm frame.... altenburger synchron brakes (eek!) but it does have the rigida serrated chrome steel rims. a few of the decals need work, no dents, and the paint is in good shape. I have all the original parts including the lights, generator, and the seat (has seen better times) Just looking for something classic (it doesn't even have to be French!) in the 48-52 cm range. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=187989. Almost forgot it is French threaded and I haven't been able to budge the cotter pins to save my life.

I have this repainted (Dr. Deltron) 1984 Trek 760 frame that I would be happy to see go somewhere it would get more use. It's 54cm ctc in the seat tube, 53cm ctc in the top tube. Lugged 531P Reynolds tubing. The paint is rich purple and in outstanding condition, fork ends are chrome. The frame was pretty much a top-of-the-line crit geometry frame when it was made. My Bob Jackson, and Raleigh Team Pro make this effectively redundant in my stable. Would be willing to include the current (I believe original) Stronglight, A-9 needle bearing headset for the right exchange.

I'd be looking for something with at least butted tubing, in 55 - 58 cm size range. Would prefer sport touring, or touring geometry. Willing to consider older frame that's sound, and not in great finish, so don't be shy about proposing a trade.

I love the way this bike looks Zorro. I can't send pm's, too new, but would you be willing to trade for my pl-8 posted above?

I suggest four grades of frame:
A = full / butted molybdenum-alloy steel --don't bother saying whether 531, Columbus, Tange, or what.
B = partial / straight gauge molybdenum-alloy steel -- again, don't bother with the details.
C = hi tensile steel.
D = anything other than steel.

I suggest three grades of paint:
A = excellent and original
B = okay (does not need repaint)
C = terrible (needs repaint)

If you're getting rid of a frame that requires unusual parts, non-English BB and headset, unusual sized FD or whatever, I suggest you include it if you can.

Other information required: dropouts, eyelets, other brazed on fittings. Damage should be clearly stated.

What else, guys? As I said before, this thread is probably just a trial balloon. What rules would you like to see? Under what terms would you, or would you not, play this game?

Southboston,
I am interested in the Bianchi that you have. I have a Motobecane grand touring in a 57cm.

Your bike is my size, and looks kind of cool, but my problem is that I have already obtained a frame that's all I was hoping to find, and then some. What I'm really in need of now is some more modern parts for the new build. What you see on this Trek is going to migrate to the Team Pro, and I will be looking for a 9-speed crankset and derailleurs to achieve 2 x 9 geared randonneuring awesomeness (I have the shifters, wheels, gears, stem, bars, etc.

I'd be willing to trade the frame for a roughly equivalent value worth of parts that I could use on the new project. I thought I had indicated this on the spreadsheet, but possibly something happened. My apologies if my update did not properly apply.

frenchbikefan 01-30-11 08:12 PM

ahh yea, I see where you indicated that, sorry about that. I will see what I have lying around my storage unit tomorrow or the next day and will get back to you.

I sent a PM to THEJAPINO, because he has a frame listed in the spreadsheet, and I'm interested in it. He hasn't responded. Anyone know how to get in touch with him/her?

mudboy 01-31-11 05:34 PM

If it's the 52cm frame he has listed, he and I are working on a trade right now.

noglider 01-31-11 05:39 PM

Ah, OK. Good luck, and if it works out, let us know about it and see it.

If it doesn't work out, please let me know.

AlphaRed 01-31-11 06:13 PM

Southboston,
I uploaded some pictures. The bike is a blue Grand Record. It is 57cm c-c and c-t, it has a stronglight headset, no dents in the frame and the fork is straight. I cannot find a name on the BB but it is most likely a stronglight also. I do not have enough posts to send you a private message. If you want to send me a private message with your email we can work that way.
I am never happy with the pictures I take so if you want more let me know

Noglider, sorry I never got back to you. I updated the thread a while back but it is on the previous page. You're the first I contact if the trade doesn't work out! Good luck!

Schwinn Le Tour about an '89 I think.

57cm

True temper frame, nice paint with shine but areas of scratches from storage.

May let it go for a trade with 54cm.

frenchbikefan 02-01-11 06:56 PM

alpha red you maybe interested in my peugeot? really need to get up to 50 posts so I can pm on here. I also have a schwinn super le tour 12.2 and all the parts to rebuild it except it does have a top tube dent and its about 70 percent stripped down paint wise.
edit* Zorro I have every intention of checking my storage unit but it was 0 today, gotta wait for it to warm up a bit.

It has no derailleur cable tunnels or chainstay cable stops and only a tab for downtube mounted shifters or cable stops. There are full cable housing tunnels along the top side of the top tube, though. Frame Spacing is 130 mm, already! Headbadge is there, but paint and Reynolds decals are really rough- needs a repaint! I'd like to trade it for a comparably made road or touring frame in 56 or 57 cm size; Horizontal forged dropouts with eyelets are a must!

Elcraft,

I have an unknown french frame (I think it is a Lejune) it is 57. I believe it to be reynolds 531. It is a 56/57. Here is a pic.

Nice bike, fender1.

AlphaRed 02-07-11 04:23 PM

Can we make this page a sticky so we don't have to go through two pages to find it every time?

AlphaRed 02-07-11 04:28 PM

mpoltkin, I can't PM you, but do you have pics of the Super Tourer? Is it green?
My friend has one in nearly mint condition and I'd love to see more pics of one in the flesh.
I'm afraid she'd be very unwilling to give hers up for anything...especially a 24.5".
