Hello,

This will be my first post in this forum so forgive so forgive me if ruffle any feathers, I'm not a total FNG as I have posted in a other forums.

The frame/fork that I hope someone can use is an early 90's Diamond Back cyclocross frame, it was my brother's race bike when he first getting started in CX racing. The frame and fork are butted chromoly (CrMo) which makes it a good candidate for a touring or commuting build. The frame has threaded rear drop outs for a fender and/or rack. The "aero" fork (teardrop shaped tubing) has two fender or rack mounts, it has a threaded eyelet on the back of the fork dropout and a threaded braze on mid-leg. I've been building bikes for friends and family for 25+ years, I offered to rebuild his retired CX frame up as a commuter. While I gathered parts my brother was supposed to sand the frame and repaint it, as you can see he never finished his part (it has been sanded a bit more than the pictures show but still needs work). Since he gave up on the build, I've been left with a frame that is too large for my riding style. The frame is 60cm, if you'd like measurements of the top tube, please let me know. I'm 6 foot tall, my brother is 6'4", I prefer a 56/58cm and he prefers 60/63mm. The frame has been stripped of parts, other builds came along, I will include the black seatpost pictured (it's scratched from my gorilla brother but could be touched up easily).

As far as the frame I'm looking to swap for, I'm open to just about anything steel, not interested in anything aluminum as I'm a steel frame fanatic. As I indicated above, I'm looking for something around 56cm + or - will do fine. I'm cool with with trading for parts too, just let me know what you have. I really would like to this this frame get put to use, it hung on my brother's wall for years, and now it's been with me for the better part of a year... this ol' racer needs a home!

*** Edit / update ***

The 60cm (24") seat tube measurement was from crank center to the top of the seat tube. I did measure the top tube length, it is 58cm (just over 23"). Also, I had a local builder professionally widen the rear drop outs from the original 126mm to the modern 130mm. You can see this in the photo taken from above of the rear canti brake bosses and the drop out width; the wheel with the red hub spacers is a modern REAL (brand) 8/9 speed hub. Lastly, the threaded fork tube is 1", not the modern 1 1/8th inch (I included a photo with a measuring tape). You can see from the pics with the canti studs, this frame and fork have ample room for a CX or touring tire. Also, in the full shot it looks like there is a lot of rake to the front but that's not so, the fork isn't up and centered in the head tube. That's about it as far as what I left out.

I need a nice 26.8 seatpost for my '88 Schwinn Cimarron dirt drop build that I'm on right now. A nice front rack would be cool... maybe some fancy 700c metal fenders... anything PAUL would be stylie. I'm really flexible, just about anything for 700c road or 26" mountain would be great.

Let me know if you need any questions answered, thanks again!

56cm Zunow Aercs. Has a wishbone seat stay and aerodynamic webbing. 56 C-C TT/ST, comes with C Record seatpost, headset and Ultra Torque cups.

Looking for something smaller 55/54cm, with a steeper geometry. Or a touring frame with canti studs. Open to offers.

Woah

Lascauxcaveman 01-05-13 11:37 PM

That thing is the tits. But I need bigger tits. To the tune of 62cm+. But cool, nevertheless. I've never even heard of a Zunow Aercs. Sounds like a Serbian porn star, or something.

Very well-regarded Japanese framebuilder:

Wow!
That is easily one of the prettiest cranksets I've ever seen... those drilled rings are works of art!!!

Any traders?

Thought I'd try seeing if anyone has a 52-54 c-c top tube Pinarello or anything italian or equivalent. :)

Geometry:
seat tube c-c = 56cm
seat tube c-t = 58cm
top tube c-c = 56cm
head tube = 15cm
1 inch chrome threaded fork.
Uses italian bottom bracket.
rear spacing = 130mm (8,9,10,11 speed compatible)
The frame is made of Columbus tubing.

I have a Masi, Nuvo Strada bike that is a 56cm, I think, I would really like to trade for a similar frame in 54cm, I don't have any pics at the moment but will post later. It is a 7005 aluminum frame with a carbon fork. There are a couple of paint chips that were on the bike when I got it, but there are no other deffects with the frame. I am willing to add some $$ for a reasonable trade.

Hey all,

Got something I need to trade for a better size for mehttp://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=293385 It's a 1994 Mongoose crossway 450. Fits 700c wheels and canti breaks

Problem is it is a 23" frame and that makes it very"French fit" for me. I built it up and rode for awhile, nice ride BTW.

Tange frame and fork. This was a bike sold in a LBS before the mess started. Paint is in decent shape with a few blemishes, scratches here and there.

Idealy, I would like another Mongoose of the same age or older but in a smaller size, perhaps 19", 20" or 21".

More pics for you to look athttp://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=293389http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=293390http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=293391http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=293392http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=293393 Normaly I would just pass this along to someone for shipping only, but this time I need something to replace it with. There are some gravel brevets planned around here and I need a suitable sized frame.

Anybody help me out ? Thanks 3SS

*EDIT* Frame traded to KOBE for a Trek hybrid 21" Love this thread !

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=293626I have a 1983 schwinn le tour mixte 56cm center to top with 4130 main tubes and stays. Its in pretty good shape just figured i'd offer it here for a week or so and see if anyone is interested in the frameset before overhauling it and storing it til spring. Would trade for campy parts, wheels, different frame, saddles or... What do you have?

Edit- turns out its an '83 not a '73

1985 Bianchi Stelvio in about a 52cm. Can measure more precisely if interested. Will come with a newish bottom bracket (Ital) and the Bianchi branded Ofmega cranks 170mm. Paint is dinged and not great. I believe the headset is Ofmega, can check for sure if interested. Nice straight frame, Columbus tubed. Built it for my wife and was too small and she never rides anyway.

Early 90's Mongoose IBOC, Tange Cro-mo, 19.5 seat post c-t, 18.25" seat tube c-c, 21.5" top tube, but can measure if you want. Sky-ish blue with black splatter. Poached the Deore DX group and now just a frame/fork.

Want to see more pictures, just ask. I can make it happen.

Interested in campy bits for a build I'm coming up on, SR, NR, Triomphe, Victory, Chorus. Frames: interesting stuff in the 60-63 zone. Thanks, love this thread.

Early 90's Mongoose IBOC, Cro-mo, small frame prob 16", but can measure if you want. Sky-ish blue with black splatter. Poached the Deore DX group and now just a frame

Interested, can I have a measurement confirmation and does this run 700c wheels with canti brakes?

Thanks 3SS

55cm Palo Alto Frame + Atala Fork. Original Palo Alto fork had a hairline crack in the crown. 56 C-C TT/ST. Tiny ding on seat tube. more pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9229638...oto_8387660982

Will trade for something larger 56-58cm. Must have recessed brake mounts. English threading preferred.

60cm ST C-C, 58cm TT C-C. Eddy Merckx Corsa. Paint is in rough shape but I've done lots of touch up. I traded for this frame a couple months ago but it is too big for me. Will trade for something smaller, 56-58cm. Must have recessed brake mounts. English threading preferred.

Colian built by Colin Laing (more info here: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...Laing-bicycles
and here: http://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA/laing_colin.htm)
*******Frame has a Mavic "Fixe" threadless bottom bracket. These bottom brackets were typically used on frames that had stripped bb threads. I do not know if this is the case. I was not able to remove the unit. It appears to have been epoxied in place. Nevertheless it spins smooth and works fine FWIW********

56cm ST C-C, 55.5cm TT C-C. Paint has some chips but otherwise in good condition. No dents, dings, cracks etc. just the aforementioned bb issue. Includes Campagnolo Super Record headset.
Size is fine, I just wanted to use an octalink bb. Will trade for something 56-58cm. Must have recessed brake mounts. English threading preferred. Condition of finish doesn't matter but it should be structurally sound since I intend to race w/ it.

EDIT: I managed to remove the bottom bracket and the threads were fine. So the bike is back in action and I'm no longer looking for a trade.

Man if the Paint was in good shape I would be all over it, it is a DB Override Hybrid frame & I built my wife up a NOS frame that is the same color with Shimano XT 9spd, great riding bike. I would like to find a tallish mens frame in the matching Purple to build up.
