Help me identify this Raleigh?
I recently purchased this bicycle. I am under the impression that it is a Super Course, but I have no idea what year it might be. I am confused, too, by the full chrome fork, as I've done a little looking and can't find a Super Course that ever had one. Help?
I am new to vintage bicycles so I don't know what information to offer, but I can take more/closer photos as necessary, and I'll answer any questions I can!

Hello Maggie welcome to the forums. nice looking bike. I agree on the fork being a replacement. the Raleigh experts will be here soon. can you post a few pics of the headtube area from the side so they can see the luggs better? also the stickers on the seattube.

Head tube lugs:
Decal on the seat tube:
And there's an absolutely destroyed Reynolds 531 sticker at the top.

I'll begin by saying I'm no expert on Raleighs, but that is one nice color. The Carlton sticker and the Nottingham head badge make this a keeper. The chrome fork, I agree is most likely a replacement. Perhaps due to an accident? Usually the model of the bike was discernable somewhere on the bike, but it seems that it is not in this instance. Looks to be around a 21" frame, if it were 23", I'd be really jealous.

I believe it is a 20.5" frame? The model name was painted/decaled on the top tube but it's mostly long worn-away!

Anything above a Superbe in the "sporty" department would be 531 tubes. Yours is likely a straight-gauge 531 model. The seat post should be 27.0mm (1.062"/1-1/16"). I am guessing that it is a Super course. I have a Carlton Corsair, a bit earlier but equipped much the same. I noticed that the Stronglight cranks are the same as the one in the catalog pics as well as some That came on a Dawes Galaxy I have. Mine came with GB brakes and Alvit derailleurs.
That bike of yours is really sharp. Did you buy it in New Hampshire? I saw one like it for sale, it was fully geared however.
This is my Corsair.
Is your bike equipped with Carlton Badged brake lever hoods? They are very rare these days,.

That really looks like a Super Course to me. Right color, right crank. Haven't seen those lugs on a SC but they were inconsistant there. Don't throw out that handlebar wrapping.

I can't make out the fork crown, but I'd offer that the '70 SC fork was probably fully chromed (since it has both chrome crown and half blades) so yours may simply have been stripped of all its paint.
Is the chrome a little rough where paint would be?

It looks like my 73' Super Course. Mine's a 23" frame though. If I'm not mistaken, they chromed the whole fork and then painted over the top of it. Someone could have removed the paint off the top half of your fork.

+1 to the SC, with a service fork.
The decals are right, but mostly the '73's had Capella lugs, so I would imagine this one is a 74 with the Bocama lugs.
- You have a fine bike there, by the way. SC's have an extremely loyal following, and for good reason.
PS - The original Wagner forks has chromed fork-crown caps with half-heart cutouts and wedgies on the top face, as below:
