Hard to say. But it is probably as new as the 1990s.

It looks as if it is a hybrid, the rear vertical dropouts, the cantilever brakes, and all the eyelets for fenders and racks.

    This 1991 Crosscut looks similar.

Could be any of the Schwinn Hybrids from the early 90's. They all had lugged frames - although I don't think the entry level bike (Cross-Fit) had a derailleur hanger.

If I was going to take a guess, I would say it was a Criss Cross. Consumer Reports gave it a good rating and Schwinn sold a pile of them because of it.

Is there any evidence of the old paint anywhere on the bike? Maybe inside of the seat tube?
There's always room for one more bike!
