This is very cool too, the decals were a bit much but some of the color combos were great in those days I really didn't like the color combo until I put the new group on it. I thought it looked like a department store kids bike. I really prefer the earlier and later decals too. |
Another late 80's Grizzly. It's going to be my touring bike.

I know that Jagwire makes celeste housing in one of their kits. You're right...it would look great against the black paint.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=235700here's my early 90's bianchi ,probably 1993 ..tsx tubing but not oversized with a columbus EL fork..the hubs are c-record as are the derailleurs,1st gen campy record dual pivot brakes. The cranks and bb are croce d'aune and the ergos are nos athenas from 97 ,last year for the pointy hoods.Stem(old logo) and bars(top ergo) are cinelli and the c-record aero seat post was a gift from a http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=235699BOB list member. All in all I'm satisfied though my original desire was for for an earlier nuovo racing model. When I acquired the frame the majority of the build fell into my hands from another BOb lister. The only real anachronism aside from the stem is the headset, a campy super record,http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=235697 but hey I already owned it and its pretty classy in any era.Of course the cabling and chainset is record as is the cassette

I believe this is the next Bianchi I picked up. It is an early '90s European model called a Boarala with Columbus MAX OR tubing. I just got the frame and fork along with BB and LX brakes.
I built it as a IGH bike and it went through a few changes along the way, and things like the "High Wire" cable routing caused some issues with deraillers and cable routing http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...9&d=1328100170 This is built up and working but I just don't like something about her overall looks. http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...1&d=1328100497 After a quick trip to the salon VIOLA! http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...0&d=1328100252 |

That frame isn't lugged?
No it is tigged or migged whatever you call it. that was one of the big advantages of the Nivachrome based tubing (MAX EL Genius) was that it better withstood the higher temps of tigging/filet brazing. the lugged versions do look great but add weight. a MAX tube set is actually a few grams lighter than a SL or SLX set. Looks nice though I wouldn't spend a fortune on tracking down the right gear, use what you like.

I was going to start a thread about the finding / cleaning of this bike but I never got around to it so I figured here is as good a place as any.
A month or so after responding to a CL ad with no pictures just saying "blue French road bike for sale" I got an email back saying the bike was still available and that I could come check it out, with visions of pristine Peugeot's in my head I went down and was immediately disappointed when seeing the owner that came to greet me was a good foot shorter than me. She showed me the bike that she was selling because she had got a newer one, not French at all, not really a road bike but the price was reasonable and I knew my Mom wanted to start riding a bike again. These photos are pre-new tires, cables, chain and freewheel but after those minor 'repairs' I had a great gift for my Mom. She rode it all summer and it now sports fenders, and a large hideous kick-stand (her choice) I've even convinced her to do a charity ride with me this next August. http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...ianchi/116.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...ianchi/118.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...ianchi/119.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...ianchi/121.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...ianchi/125.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...ianchi/123.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...ianchi/124.jpg |

Thanks... Thats why I am the "Bianchi Goddess" HE HE |
Sauze great looking Advantage. I am not sure which one, maybe T-Mar knows, but it is either a '90 or '91. They were nice bikes and unfortunately a last gasp in the Bianchi/Suntour relationship.

Thanks Bianchigirll , the most important thing about it (to me at least) is that my Mom loves it / rides regularly now . I think I took the serial # down at some point and if I recall I think I determined it was a '91 at some point. Really a perfect hybrid / around town / light trails bike.
I can't quite tell , but was 'Power Ring' Suntour's response to 'Biopace' ? http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...ianchi/122.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...ianchi/127.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...ianchi/120.jpg |
