Okay, which one of you owns this beauty?
Your son told me, as I accosted him on my return trip and you were gone looking for a new spoke to replace the broken one, that you were NOT on C&V. I find that impossible to believe, especially as he and I went on to have a detailed discussion about his '89 Centurian and Suntour components and the relative virtues of Brooks saddles and mink oil.
I do not believe you are not here, with a bike like this one:

I mean, a Raleigh International with fully chromed lugs, a croissant bag and shellacked tape on the moustache bars? How can you NOT be on C&V?
So fess up. I know I was a bit over-excited and probably intimidating with all my shrieking and gesticulating over your bike. Perhaps you didn't recognize the Panasonic (though god only knows how its image isn't burned into your brain by now, considering how often I've posted it). Whatever, we're cool. Just admit it. It's you, isn't it? I knew it.

If I ever get an International it'll end up looking a *lot* like that one. Same size, even.

In your excitement you snapped the wrong side of the bike...

B dub, I had no choice. I felt silly enough asking for the picture, much less asking him to turn it around!
And thanks for the compliment mattOne. I like the Panasonic too .

And yes, your dx-5000 looks stunning. I really like the Suntour group on it.

It was a really gorgeous, bright, coppery-orange, with the shiniest chrome imaginable. It was literally glittering and glinting as I pulled up. The paint wasn't mint, or anything, just a fantastic color. Everything was wonderful, right down to the bag. Clearly, if he's not on this forum, he needs to be recruited pronto.

Hmm... an interesting mission objective: recruit an obviously gifted C&V fan.
What do we know?
a-He is male, with the knowledge, judgement, and ability to repair/rebuild/rehab his own bikes.
b-He has passed on the appreciation for such to his son.
c-His son is obviously not intimidated by the charming snarkypup.
d-Seattle area
e-active rider
f-just bought a spoke
g-possibly a member of the Raleigh underground
h-His son is possibly a member of the Centurion cult.
i-5'10 to 6'1 based on the bike setup
j-perhaps a member of the local tweed riders or a bike club.
Not yet to the level we need to send in a team. Perhaps he'll surface.

Not me, apparently. I'm just the scout.
I tell ya, I NEVER see vintage bikes around my neighborhood. In Seattle proper, sure, but not in South King County.

I restored an old 70s Gitane Super Corsa and chose a flamboyant yellow (w/flecking) ontop of a white base respray. It has some of the same lighting effect as the one you're trying to hunt down. I can tell you that when the sun hits my wife's bicycle, it starts to reflect the beauty that I find in her ;-) Here are some decent pics I posted to gitaneusa.com's site last year. If you can't find the owner to see if you can buy his/her bicycle from, perhaps you repray a good lugged frame to accomplish the same look?

Beautiful bike, Kinst! Love the color. Your wife is a lucky woman. I don't want to buy the International, just know who rides it . I got me a Raleigh, though not such a pretty one.
