Wish me luck

This photo isn't much to go on, but if it's what the seller claims, I might have something interesting to report tomorrow. From the little that can be seen here, it certainly seems to be the real thing and in condition advertised. I received a call late tonight that the person ahead of me in line is passing due to size. From the photo, this seems like it should be right in my range (on the larger side of it)!

It's a U-08, not a PX-10. And the fork is bent.

I thought you rode much larger than me. What is your eye seeing?

On the cell phone (how I got the photo) it looked smaller, now I'm thinking 56.

I think the one time I drove to Canton, it was about 8 hours. One of my closer friends married a girl in your neck of the woods and they got married there. Seeing the HOF was pretty cool, but she's awful.

Ouch! I'm sure it won't be any worse than the International. I've been curious about trying a Paramount since I became a member here...to me, they were a dinosaur when I was growing up. I looked at them the way a CF kid looks at our bikes today. They get so much attention and love here that I would like to try it...and I can always move it along should it not be my thing.

I'm looking at the headtube, and it looks 56-57ish. Am I being deceived by slacker angles than I'm used to?

It looks like a Paramount with Nervex lugs, Campy Front and Rear Nuovo Record Derailleurs. Maybe Campy Nuovo Record Crankset. Perhaps a 56 or 58cm. It doesn't matter at the right price, you can always sell it if it doesn't fit! Bon Chance!

Gios...it's not the steal of a century, but I have little doubt I can at least make my money back. Besides, it doesn't hurt to look!

I think I'm seeing Weinmanns, but I'm not certain. Another odd thing is seller says 1974, but the cable guides suggest otherwise.

You could be right, but the HT space I'm seeing looks 56ish.

I'll know for sure tomorrow...maybe the angles are throwing me...they're much slacker than most of my rides.

I'll likely purchase it regardless.

Looks like a 58cm to me. Definitely seems bigger than 56cm. But good luck nonetheless!

Hah! I was guessing about 58cm, but i'm not really great at the guessing game. I agree that the brakes look like weinmann centerpulls.

As much as I love Canton, and I sincerely do, it is funny to me when I think of people coming here. We sort of take the HOF for granted and they are preparing for a gigantic expansion which I plan on seeing. The HOF induction week is always a lot of fun. I believe you that your friends wife is awful... there is a potent blend of redneck and hood rat around these parts... probably everywhere actually. Last week I got cussed out when someone else cut me in line... I didn't even say anything... apparently they didn't appreciate the look I had on my face after getting cut.

FWIW my Raleigh Professional has a really long head tube. If I looked at a photo I would guess 63cm but it's actually 60. My Raleigh Gran sport is the exact same size and the head tube is noticeably shorter.

Judge for yourself, both bikes are 60cm but notice the head tube difference:

She's neither of those, just a seriously neurotic whack-a-doo. Her father is supposedly prominent out there...does the name Gollub mean anything to you?

The second photo looks much smaller...58 or 57. I'm usually not bad at the size guessing game, but sometimes I'm really off.

You night owls amaze me!

I hope this is helpful, but I tend to agree that it is at least a 58cm or 23 inch frame. Possibly as big as 60cm or 24 inch.

This is a side by side comparison of my 24 and 25 inch (60cm and 63cm) frames. The red one is a '71 and the copper one a '66.

The difference in the angle of the top tube is due to the fact the red one does not have a headset installed and only uses that stem to hold the fork in place.

I hope it does work out for you. I doubt you will be disappointed.

Yikes, it does look about an inch smaller than the red (23). Well, I'll know definitively tonight! I'm not getting a "OMG!" deal on this, but I think the price will end up quite attractive for condition. It also comes with the tool set and original manuals. If it's too big for me it will either go to a member here at cost or off to ebay.
