French porteurs come in real handy sometimes!

So while out on a ride with my fiance today we came across some items on the street being thrown away. My partner really liked the sideboard and thanks to the porteur we could take it with us! I rode for 5 km with it and the bike rode faultless even if it was a bit front heavy.
I thought i would share a photo with you guys of the fun ride!

Another fine example of French utility!
Your stable seems to have no shortage, when it comes down to portage. I'll bet that ride home got some double takes.

Ah to be a blue riband ribald reveler, collecting the baubles of the French countryside... Downright romantic

Ahhh, Daveyates, you've done it again. GREAT pic. By the way, that piece of furniture looks very interesting too. Looks to have Chinese-inspired design elements. Chinese furniture, a particular area of interest for me. How about a pic of the sideboard! heh. Oh and, congratulations. Getting married!?

Davey I love your bikes.
I was riding to the auto parts store yesterday, and passed a oak table in the trash. The table wasn't usable, but the boards of the top were good salvage, but because I have a small Wald basket, I wasn't able to tote the table home. I'm going to look for a porteur rack.

Rootboy i have two other photos with the sideboard if you are interested in seeing it from different angles.
It just needs two handles as far as i can see and a nice polish.
I only had one piece of string with me but luckily i managed to find a small rug to protect the top and a sheet which i ripped up to make a makeshift rope!
Also they had some nice small slats of wood which i'm going to fit to the porteur rack later.

This bit of furniture wasn't heavy but the racks can take some pretty serious weight!

Your haul inspired me to go get the oak boards from the table.

Even the street people moved to the other side as I worked unscrewing the table to get just the wood I wanted.

Also it was a great idea of yours about me holding the furniture legs instead of the handlebars to ride.
Don't know why i didn't think of that at the time!

I'm impressed by the fact you were able to secure that load... I suppose that front rack design makes it not impossible

Awesome bike.

And even if they saw that great bike and load, all the trend humping fashion lemmings riders in my area would still think that you were a homeless freak who was going to burn that wood to cook some roadkill.

Yet if it had a gunrack on it they would think it was cool.
