Would like to borrow a bike in Palm Beach County around Apr 21

I'll be visiting my in-laws some time around April 21. Is anyone near West Palm Beach? I adore my in-laws, but I find the place boring, and I'd love to take a ride or two. Ideally, I'd ride with you, but if you have a bike to borrow, that would be OK, too.

If not, is there a place to rent a bike?

Thanks.

Tom

You should take a trip down to the velodrome. A trip to butterfly world will get you alot of points with the wife.

Thanks for the suggestions! I found Butterfly World on the net but not the Velodrome. Are you talking about the one in Broward county? That's a bit far.

I'd like to visit my uncle in Boynton Beach, though.

Don't assume my wife is into girly things. I have more shoes and clothes than she does. She's into stuff like comic books, though we do both like nature.

Tom,

If your going to drive to Boynton Beach you should go to the Velodrome in Broward, I think it's at Brian Piccolo park.

I should have something you can ride, what size do you need? Despite my username, I'm in central broward ( actually 3 or 4 miles from the velodrome.)

If you're staying into the following week, I'd love to meet up and go for a ride, I have that week off...

Michael, no she's more into the subversive stuff by R Crumb and the like.

Chris, I'll be gone the week of the 25th. But email me at the address below, please, and thank you for your offers!

OK, so you guys are talking about the Velodrome in Pembroke Pines, I guess. It's not all that close, but maybe you Floridians consider 43 miles to be a short drive. And maybe it is. I'm not sure if I'll have the use of a car. I might have my mother in law's car briefly. She's terribly accommodating, so this could work!

I drive 32 miles one way each and every day. I work in Broward County and live in Dade County. Heck, if you get to the Miami area, You can get to meet up with me and Kurt. We live a block away from each other. He always riding around the neighborhood in his latest "Pee Wee Herman" creation...Not hard to miss.

Mike

43 miles to the nearest WalMart here in NH.

FL guys, can't Tom hop a train in West Palm Beach and take it down to Miami or Coral Gables?

Tom, if you are that close, you have to go and visit Mike and Kurt.

I did once take a train from West Palm Beach to Miami. It was interesting. We have a lot more trains in this part of the country, and the Florida train was different. As my daughter's friend's mother (in FL) said, "We don't take trains here," which is code for "We white people don't ride the trains with the minorities." (OK, enough of that, because it starts to get political.) The fare-taker on the train wore a gun on his hip. That almost freaked me out. But it was comfortable and uneventful, and I didn't mind riding the train one bit.

And yes, if I make it to Miami, as I have a friend there, I will see if I can see Kurt. Forgive me, but who is Mike?

Tri-Rail spans West Palm Beach to Miami; however, it wouldn't make sense to take a 75 mile trip to borrow a bike. Granted, I've had West Palm folks come down to buy a flipper or two, but that's just ridiculous.

Tom is from NJ. Everything is "20 Minutes" away from everything else in NJ. If its not, its far.

In Miami, every trip is guaranteed to add $1,000 of depreciation to your vehicles odometer.

That's mainly because of the bullet holes you'll pick up along the way, right?

I thought it was because of the splatter from running over cyclists.

It's a combination of gun-toting fare takers' automobiles running over cyclists while being shot.

Welcome to Miami. Coffee? Tea? Change of underpants?
