What should I be considering - wheel replacement.
I'm replacing the 27" wheels on an early 70's Raleigh mixte with 700c wheels and I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what I should look for. It currently has 27 x 1 1/4 and they are very comfortable. In my number hating brain, all my reading on options is just getting me confused. I'd love a simple list of options, if that's possible.
The bike is currently set up as a single speed and I might keep it that way or go all out and have a three speed. Not sure if I want to spend the money for that, however. It would likely mean having wheels built either by hire or convince the husband to build a set. (they may never get done in the second scenario, though)
It's an early 70's Grand Prix and while it's obviously nothing special in terms of bikey value, it's one of my most comfortable bikes and I'd like to get it set up so I can ride it more often.
Thanks much!!!

why are you replacing the wheels? If you want the easy way out just get some off the shelf freewhel 27" wheels and have the respaced for your SS.

I bought a wheel with the 2 speed kickback hub from this place https://www.junkyrustybikes.net/produ...oducts_id=1372 the bike will still have a singlespeed look but you will have an extra gear when needed.

The wheels have seen much better days. The H has given them the once over (a few times) and they are simply done. Now, one other option might be to rebuild the current wheels.
