Every Bike Has a Song

I find myself often comparing people to songs...or thinking what would their theme song be...so, it seems logical to do the same with bikes:

The Marnati - Pixies - The Happening

Why? The carbon campy bits seem so alien to me and I like putting it down in the hammer lane.

Raleigh International - The Kinks - Last of the Steam Powered Trains

Why? It's just very traditional, and it still rides nicely and makes you nostalgic, but it's been passed by.

Bauer's Merckx - Bruce - Glory Days

This was the team we all dreamed about riding with ion 1991, when I was stronger, thinner, faster, had hair and everything was in front of me. I wasn't afraid of a 50+ descent.

I'll come up with some more later.

Step Aside Let The Man Go Through - Soul Coughing

My Trek 560, when I ride it I feel fast, at least for me. Passing little old ladies that's the song I hear in my head.

The rhythm of the 1"-pitch block chain on my Zeus track bike does remind me of Led Zeeplin's "Trampled Underfoot", but that's the only one that comes to mind.

You, sir, are pushing too high a gear. Downshift already!

If I had to put a song to most of my riding, I'd go with Pipeline.

ALAN super record - the Giorgio Moroder of the bike world. High tech, groundbreaking, colourfull and still great after all those years!

Ha. A man of my own tastes.
I can't improve on this selection.

No problem. Click the above link, and you'll be set.:thumb:

Raleigh Sports: Johnny Cash, When the Man Comes Around.

Why? -because it is the most bad-ass bike ever made...

OK, maybe not but I think so ;)

Oh come on, that's WAY too easy.

Crap, I have no idea about mine because I don't listen to or think of music while I'm riding...I'm too busy listening to the drivetrain :)

Although, if I were to attach songs to my bikes, it would be fair to say that they would be from one of the following:

Kansas
Alan Parsons
James Taylor
Al Stewart
Pink Floyd
Rush

That'd about cover it :)

Italuminium 05-12-11 08:54 AM

Lol, a Cinelli Laser and the Alan Parsons project - perfect ride for dr. Evil

Zaphod Beeblebrox 05-12-11 08:58 AM

When i go fast its the theme song from Airwolf

Italuminium 05-12-11 09:12 AM

My school commute back in the day was exactly as long as Stairway to heaven... when I left home on time. When I needed to go all out I could just make it to the tune of Ride the Lightning (IMHO the ultimate go-fast song).

dwellman 05-12-11 09:51 AM

Heh. . my new beater has a song
From Wrong to Right - Stryper

This is the best thread idea I've seen in a while. :D

My Fuji Opus III reminds me of Manuel De Falla's Ritual Fire Dance, particularly when climbing:

and this version, if I was climbing in the Dolomites:

You seriously need to get involved in the "Countdown to Ecstasy" thread. You're needed over there, if Aaron is ever going to attain his high reply count goal.

Wah? What am I missing?!?

When I run I always get either Time Trap or Broken Chairs stuck in my head. Both are by Built To Spill.

seypat 05-12-11 12:54 PM

So then which steed(and there can only be one) is worthy to go with "Through The Fire And Flames" by Dragonforce?

marley mission 05-12-11 01:21 PM

i guess with all my mixtes the theme song would probably 'dude looks like a lady' by aerosmith

dwellman 05-12-11 01:24 PM

Dragonforce. . . ha.

CV-6 05-12-11 01:45 PM

I don't relate a specific song to a specific bike. I find myself thinking of songs with a good beat to keep me going. Substitute by The Who gets me going.

mikeinroch 05-12-11 02:21 PM

Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting - the tempo is about right, and with a tail wind "I get about as oiled as a diesel train"
