Box O Crap revisited

If you remember, in December many of us engaged in Noglider's BOC pass around game. Since then, I've gone to the box for a QR, saddle for a neighbor's kids bike, and the odd nut or bolt Last night, I reconfigured an item. Contemplating the need for a 1/2 toe clip, I dove into my box and found a set of patinaed clips. A few minutes with tin snips, file and bench vise and I fashioned a pair a 1/2 clips. How have you used your treasures?

Hmm... well, my box contained a centerpull brake with a black sticky label that said "PEUGEOT" under which was another black sticky label that says "WEINMANN." I turned said centerpull over to Maggiemaggie yesterday (and got a great deal of gratitude and a box of home made cookies in return). I also remember some brake shoes in that box, which I used. I can't remember what else....

we should do that again. I didn't play last time around, but right now I've got like two whole bikes that would qualify if I found a box big enough

I'd sign up for a new round. I scored several bins of bike parts (lots and lots of crap with some gems). It'd be a good way to find out how much I can fit into a USPS flat rate box.

Most of my BOC went from the box to the work bench to the trash can. Although I did get a set of F and R suntour arx derailers that I hung on a Raleigh Gran Prix I built up for a kid in January.

I enjoyed that game, and luckily got some useful stuff. I used this white and black splash cork tape on a flip, yellow Hunt-Wilde tape on flip and some chrome shorty fenders on another flip. I used the Christophe toes clips on my dads Raleigh Grand Prix, Suntour down tube shifters on my Koga Miyata, and I sent the Shimano 600 down tube shifter to a fellow member who was trying to round up a Shimano 600 group.

So yeah, my box was pretty awesome. Thanks Nlerner!!

You're welcome, robertofergy! You know, I can only barely remember what was in the box I received. That's probably good, as I'd likely include most of it in the next BoC I send out.

I used the rim strips on one build and just recently dove into it for some turkey legs to put on a woman's free spirit. She really wanted drop bars and the bike had northroad style bars, B.O.C. to the rescue.

My BOC (still makes me think of Blue Oyster Cult) had 2 brand-new shift cables and housings which have helped me get 2 bikes on the road. I also have a nice stash of zip ties. And I may be tempted to start a museum (or freak show) with the Positron grip-shifter/cables/derailleur assembly.

I've still got one ready to go - even has some carbon and Drillium in it.

I'm in if we go again!

Get a box.
Cut a hole in the box.
Put your d... err wrong game

Medium size "If it fits, it ships" USPS box. Fill it with as much "crap" as you can, and send it off to the person you get assigned.

Someone want to step up, make this the "Fathers Day/Graduation/Beginning of Summer" round.

Yep, How about a Round Robin version. One box goes out, when you recieve it, you take one item out, put another in and send it on it way.

I changed that a bit. I would like to add a strong encouragement that the box is to be delivered to its next recipient by bicycle if possible. In other words, we start locally, and see how far we can get the crap to go without funding USPS.

I'm the recipient of Roberto's box!!! Nice shifters! They will get used. Probably Paul thumbies down the road. That'd be swell. I got some other stuff from him, too. But, since I didn't know the game existed and don't know the "the rules"......if there were/are any.....I won't divulge. He got some stuff from me too, though.

So, where do I sign up, and who wants my BOC???
