Hi guys,

I recently got these a pair of Croce d'Aune Deltas which are stamped Scarlata and was wondering if anyone knew what Scarlata is or was. I googled a bunch but couldn't find anything. Here on the board nothing pops up either.

Anyone know something? Cheers!

"SCARLATA" was a brand of bicycle, IIRC, in the same way "Colnago" or "MASI" was a brand. I have no idea why I think that. I have no clear recollection but am fairly certain it was a brand, perhaps back on the east coast area. I've moved so much, I've forgotten where I saw it.

Some Delta brakesets were pantographed by numerous makers. I saw a set for sale at eBay some months ago, pantographed with the brand "Scapin". This is not ususual as other maker did it like 3TTT and ITM with all the pantographed stems you see out there with various bike brands. the ITM stem on my Carbone 7 has "Vitus" pantographed on it. which makes is a bit unusual as it is an Italian Stem. You'd think Vitus would use Mavic or Atax stems for that (although I suspect that Mavic buys it's stem from another maker toom maybe 3TTT?).

De Rosa had panto'd Deltas for the Anniversary and I think also the Signature bikes. I have a set of De Rosa panto Deltas, but one cover is non-panto and the original disappeared.

I also spent some time Googling to find anything about Scarlata and bicycles but came up with zip. So, the answer to the original question remains a real mystery.

I always wondered why Campagnolo did not panto their symbol on the Deltas, being that it was their top of the line brakeset of that time. If one's Delta caliper covers screened on Camapgnolo logo eventually wears off, it makes it easier to just have the covers engraved with your bike's brand name and it will be considered still "complete"/in good condition??

This would be great - I have another pair of Deltas that the logo has rubbed off. Panto-ed would be much better.

It looks too...inelegant...to be Campagnolo panto. The panto on my Delta does not look like that...it's a signature (I think more standard) and it's far more detailed, neat/clean and it looks far more sophisticated in application. The more I think about it...that looks like a DIY job.

Campagnolo never pantographed any of their brakes, or any of their parts for that matter. All pantographing was done by outside companies. From what I have been able to determine, it was also never done for the account of Campagnolo but rather always for the account of some other bike or frame builder. I once had a set of delta brakes that had the very chintzy Colnago decals on them. I thought they were too cheap looking for a bike, so I had the covers pantographed following the exact design of the decal. The end result looked 10 times better than the transparent decal. The brakes themselves ended up in the Far East.

I also have a set of pantographed delta brakes on my De Rosa 35th anniversary bike. These were pantographed on behalf of De Rosa by an outside supplier to De Rosa.

WOW...I always assumed Campagnolo had deals with larger buyers, like Colnago or Colnago distributors, to panto their parts.
