Suntour GL rear hub

Picked up a used, but decent Suntour GL rear hub today. I don't know much about them and Velobase didn't have anything either. Anyone have any experience with them?

Likely a rebranded Sunshine/Sansin hub, as were most Suntour. Have a pic for us?

I'll get a photo in the morning as the camera is over in my shop.

I think late 80s early 90s Suntour offering. I think I have one that came off my GT mtb. Mine's a 7 speed freehub.

Sansin made hub... nice stuff.

Suntour and Sansin were pretty close companies as they had close blood ties between their head people and were in very close proximity to each other and Suntour provided a lot of business for Sansin.

A couple of photos. Locknut to locknut measures 130mm. When did road bikes go to that standard? I was suspecting that maybe it was a more for a mtb than road bike brand new.

My 1992 Cannondale ST600 has this rear hub as standard issue; IMO, they're well built hubs.

There too much exposed axle thread on the freewheel side: looks like there's a spacer missing on the freewheel side. Also the on the non-freewheel side there is too much distance from the lock nut to the hub: the spacer looks too big, might be that the spacers and/or the cones (if different sizes) were switched from one side to the other.

So, I'm assuming I'm better off having the shop re-space when I have a wheel built up for my son. Yes, I haven't gotten to that part of bike maintenance yet.

Here's a pic of a typical 6 speed rear hub, note the spacing as compared to the GL hub. The 130mm spacing is only a bit more each side. And I bet this was a mtb hub as they went to 130mm first for 7 speed freewheels.
