Best grips to match a Brooks honey saddle?

Do you-all know of any grips that match the color of a B17 saddle in honey? I'm considering the VO Kraton Basket-Weave Grips. VO says that they're made to match honey Brooks saddles, but to me the grips look a bit too butterscotch/orange in the picture on the VO site. Anyway, I'm on a budget so I'd prefer rubber grips to leather grips. And I realize that the saddle will darken with time, so eventually the saddle and the grips won't match. But for a few shining moments, I'd like them to. Ideas? Thanks!

You're right, the VO Kraton grips are far from a perfect match. One big advantage of them is that they work well with bar end shifters with a bit of trimming.

It looks like those ring cork grips have some amber shellac on them. That's what I did to mine.

not to steal the thread but, does anyone know if the Brooks grips can be used with barends? I don't see anything one way or the other in their website

I like the look of shellaced cork grips, but they aren't grippy with sweaty hands. The Kraton grips are, but as has been said, they don't quite match a honey Brooks. Still, if you'd like a pair I have some NIP and would let them go cheap.

I wouldn't think so. The way they're designed I'd think the end cap is crucial.

I have not had that problem and I've been using shellaced cork grips for years, but I use them on bikes that I wouldn't work up a sweat while riding. The Raleigh shopping bike in the picture, for instance. It was once a race bike, but now it's a cruiser. It helps that I live in a cool climate. Cork that has not been shellaced is perfect for wet/sweaty hands. That's why it is used on fishing rods.

Speaking of fishing rods, the shop where used to buy my rod building supplies had a lathe that they used to shape glued up cork rings to any shape you like. I used to make them a template out of cardboard.

I wouldn't expect it to be an issue most of the time, but I thought it worth noting. I found I was actually squeezing my cork grips this weekend, but it was 94F and very humid. Gloves would've solved the issue, but I don't usually care for gloves.

Way cool old Dawes bike. I had a green Galaxy from 1971... my first REAL road bike.

The nicest I've seen are the Sogreni leather grips in Honey Brown:

Thanks, everybody, for your input. (And thanks to the Colonel for offering the VO grips.) At this point, I think I'll just get some black rubber grips at my LBS. They're trimmed with red, so they'll go well with my black Univega with its red decals. My Brooks saddle will just have to stand alone in its honey-colored splendor.
