$50 dollars for a Raleigh Wyoming frame, and $300 in upgrades at an LBS....
and a week to wait. What to expect? Shimano STI drop-bar shifters, all new shimano derailleurs, new brakes, trued-wheels, new race tires. I can't wait, I am going mad! How will the Wyoming perform with new parts?

did you put new wheels on it or does it still have the the 27" wheels? I suspect it will ride like decent midlevel tourer. I found some specs on Sheldon's website but it does not list a frame materiel. what is the frame made of?

The 1985 Raleigh Wyoming was made with Raleigh 555T double butted cromoly steel. IIRC, Raleigh 555T was really Reynolds 501.

Sadly, I don't have any before photos, it all happened so fast. The bike beforehand was all origninal without fenders or racks, just bare. I couldn't sleep well last night, and I have a week to go!
What would be the advantage/disadvantage of keeping the 27" wheels?

I have a touring bike with that configuration (1985 Schwinn Voyageur).... of course I had to have custom wheels to do it. Couldn't fit a 10 speed cassette on a freewheel hub. ;-)

My girlfriend picked the bike up for me, by the time I got home it was too dark to take pictures, and the pictures I took inside weren't that great, I actually like this picture the best, it is a craigslist looking picture, but this bike is not for sale!

Looks nice. I think the handlebar needs to be tilted back toward the rider a bit, though*. Good on you for throwing your LBS some business.
