Anyone know where to go in Rome for C&V Campagnolo parts?

I'm going to be in Rome for the next few days. I thought it'll be sweet if I can discover some C&V Campy parts and even some of the more newer 10 speed stuff that was made in Aluminum, not CF.
Anyone know of the must go to bike shops around Roma?

Ciao!

He has one of two Colnago Ernesto built for him. One that's gold plated I thought.

I guess that's the ticket for Ernesto to get through the Pearly Gates.
I'll be in San Pietro tomorrow, I'll see if there are any listings on the Vatican CL.

A member of C&V lives in Rome but I'd imagine all the stores have been thoroughly gone through.

I'm going to Rome/a secret city I'm not mentioning at the end of the month and then back to Rome again in September.

I would imagine in Italy, perhaps I am being romantic, but wouldn't there be thousands of small shops all over the place? just go for a ride out ing the country and keep your eyes open for shops that look like there were selling bikes to Roman Soldiers

I thought the same thing and did a little research, Italy, including Sicily and Sardenia has a land area equal to that Arizona with a population of 61 million. How many bike stores can there be?

It's probably been well done in Rome, but I'd grab a cab and ask the driver to take you to the oldest bike shop he knows of. Might find something.

When in rome.. Seriously, rome is not the cycling city. The mfctrs are all up north and rome is much too crowded! Plus the riding is all in tuscny, umbria, eyc...

Google scambio roma 2011.

A quick look gives me this, https://www.vespaclubroma.it/vcr/inde...d=41&Itemid=49

Scambios are mostly cars and motorcycles but you will find vintage bikes and parts too.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm going out Friday with my wife's cousin. He's been asking around for me. But he too said Rome isn't a cycling hotspot.

I checked Ebay Italia once and was surprised how expensive vintage bike gear was. Still, it's Italy, they've been building nice bikes for a long time, and even in Rome there has to be some cool stuff if you start nosing around.

On my wife's last trip she had 10 full days in Italy - Rome, Venice, Siena, Milan.
She didn't bring me back anything.

The bikes I saw in Italy were much lower end than what I'd typically see in Philly and the majority were low end dutch style city cruisers that looked about as interesting as a re-run of Cop Rock. The shops I went to (except Marnati's, obviously) were dull with limited selection. The road bikes you see are generally lower end than what we get here with lower parts groups. Nearly every road bike I saw was 105 or Rival. Very little Campagnolo actually.

I suspect if what you're looking for exists, it's in a small neighborhood off the area from where you'll be and you'll need connections to find it. As other have said, it's also more likely in Tuscany or Milan.

the only deadbeat buyer I've ever had on ebay was a bidder from Italy that won an auction for a Campagnolo bb cable sling. My takeaway from that is that some of the old Campy stuff isn't easy to find over there.
