Anyone with knowledge or speculation on this frame?
I recently purchased the frame and fork and made some modifications. Almost all of the parts were from my storage. I'm pretty sure it came out of the Motobecane factory but with perhaps the Astra decals. I have yet to see a Motobecane with half chrome rear stays. As I've read, Astra was an American Importer. The frame has Huret rear drop outs and one Huret front drop. The other front is stamped Campagnolo but looks exactly like the Huret. The head set lower race seat was 27mm, which Motobecane used at times. The lugs look like Nervex. The bottom bracket shell is Swiss, again something Motobecane used from time to time. Lastly, the steering tube is French, 22.0. This is a really, really nice riding bike. Typically French, wonderful ride, not-so-nice finish work.
Specs: Simplex seat post, Simplex front derailleur, Stronglight A9 headset, Mavic MA2 rims, Berthoud 40mm fenders.

Unfortunately, yes, a repaint not done well but I can live with it for now.

Hey - Its running and thats great - Another French bike overcoming French parts - Don't knock the paint it looks good - I have always liked Yellow for a color on a bike but in the Central Texas area there is a Yellow Bike Program for utility bikes so everyone is avoiding that color now... Your bike could use some gettocals (do a search for that thread), let me know if you want to make a 3"x10" bumper sticker for a cheap basic decal and I'll help if you need it...
