85/86 Concord Freedom Deluxe

I am looking at a Concord Freedom Deluxe from 1985/86 and I was wondering if $60 is a decent price. I have never had a road bike and wanted to try out riding for exercise. I am trying to do this inexpensively but also want a bike that will stand up to it. The bike looks to be in good condition though the pictures are kind of poor. So is the bike worth it?.

If it is in decent shape $60 would be a good price. If the tires are good (or new) the price is very good.

I have owned a few (for short periods of time) and they seemed to be well build and a little heavy.

There are others more experienced than I but I have restored a Concord bike and sold it so do have a little first-hand knowledge. Your bike looks like its in far better shape than the one I worked with. One thing I would say if you do intend to get it (if it's in as good a shape as it looks don't think $60 is too bad) I would definitely test-ride it first. Be particularly cognizant of any pulling to left or right, smoothness of shifting, effective braking, funny noises, etc. Mine had a bent fork which I finally was able to straighten (cold-set). Don't know about the "Deluxe" but the Concord I had was a pretty low end bike.

That is a good price -

I have had a couple of these and they impressed me as nice looking, good quality bikes, with decent components. About the equivalent of a Schwinn LeTour of the same era in ride quality.
