Have dug this frame out of the garage. I used it to get to and from school about 15 years ago!

Have a bit of spare time and thinking about restoring her back to some sort of former glory.

Would love to know if anybody recognised the frame....?

If it is of any use it used to be metallic red!

The slack head tube combined with the stem makes me think the frame much more than 15 years old, . Need drive side, head tube, seat tube and drop out photo's if you want I'd help. If its a game, My entry is an RRA.....did I win? course not, never do but it's fun.

Welcome to the C&V, love to see more photo's

Does that have a 1/2 step front chainring set?

rhm 06-22-11 07:09 AM

I dunno. I see a cottered crank, though.

Anyone else notice the name of the picture is 'fixie'? Looks like those might be cast drop outs??? Hard to tell.

Any reason you are not showing the headbadge or are you trying to make it more of a challenge?

AlexanderMark 06-22-11 08:24 AM

no reason for not showing badge...

...if you think it will help it says "concept 3000 - carboferric tubing"

its not stuck on very straight so guessing its a recent addition...sorry

From looking at other topics in C&V could she be a "Free Spirit FS10"?

Not sure what you're trying to figure out. It has Shimano Altus (ca. ~1981) shifters and likely the same rear derailleur. It's a low end frame that has been repainted and features low end parts. That's not to say it's not a bicycle that could be put to good use.

AlexanderMark 06-22-11 08:35 AM

Thanks for the date estimate. That would make it atleast 4 years older than me - nice!

Would just like to know what make the frame is (even if it is "low end").

I believe that frame could have very well come from a low end Fuji. Something at the Monterey class or lower. Tough to say not knowing if any components are original. The lugs and dropouts look consistent, as does the general geometry.

sailorbenjamin 06-22-11 09:26 PM

Any serial numbers?

-holiday76 06-22-11 09:30 PM

look at those awesome finely filed lugs.

Sears? Something department store related is what i'm thinking.
