Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knew the hierarchy of Univega mixtes. I've heard of Viva Sport, Nuovo Sports, and Gran Turismo mixtes.

Can anyone rank them from in increasing "niceness" (which I guess is synonymous to price).

I'd also like to know about any other Univega Mixte models.

I had a regular frame 86 Viva sport and that was pretty high up the hierarchy coming equipped with Suntour 6000 series cyclone derailleurs and a very nice set of 700c Ukai rims. I do not recall what hubs were on it but I really wish it had been my size.

Also, where would you guys put a mid 1980s Centurion LeMans Mixte with Shimano Exage components in comparison to these Univega mixtes?

i was gonna say - most people dont associate mixtes with being high end - that being said - go look on ebay and you'll find some older ones - mainly french ones - that people will put high numbers on - i dont have a univega and much of ride quality with what you pick up might have to do with the bikes condition - patience is key

I would agree that the Gran Turismo is probably the nicest of the three models, but I'm biased since I like older touring bikes. I haven't seen a mixte GT but I would like to.

A lot of it will probably depend on year. I had a blue 1980 Gran Turismo men's model that was a plain gauge crmo frame and came with Suntour VX-Gt components. After I was riding that for a while, I found a matching blue 81 Viva Sport mixte frame that I built up as a townie for my girlfriend, it also had a plain gauge Crmo frame and came with VX-Gt components.

I think the gran turismo and nuovo sport both made it to the CTB (cromoly triple butted) level in the later years, not sure if the viva sport did or not.

My wife's Nuovo Sport Mixte has the triple butted CrMo. Not positive on the year...never made a real effort to date it. It has indexed Shimano Light Action bits.
