to destroy a columbus frame or not ???

hey guys
I have just bought this Fiori alphma road bike , it is columbus sl steel frame in rough shape due to dent but rideable .. I paid 250.00$ for this bike because it has Dura ace brakes set , rear derailer , and down tube levers and the camy headset ,front derailer and campy wheelset. my problem is the top tube has a large rusted dent about 3 inches long and that wouldnt be a problem but the Campy seatpost is seized and unmovable without damaging it , my plan was to remove all saveable parts and cut the seatpost out saving it too. i will post pics later today but tell me what you would do ??
thanks Pinch

Without pics it's hard to judge, but I'd try to save a (usable) frame more than a Campy seatpost. Unless the dent is so bad that the tubing is cracked, it probably hasn't terminated the frame. There are ways to get out a post without completely ruining it, too...but it's more effort than a Sawzall (plus you'd still have a challenge to cut off the seat tube without marring that post, and chances are good that corrosion has already pock marked it).

I think you should take the slow route on getting that seatpost out. I destroyed a frame once and I still regret it because I've since learned a few more tricks and realize that frames are more resilient, seized items are movable with patience.

IF YOU DO destroy the frame, I'd love to get the lug areas from you with about 4" of tubing still attached. I can pay shipping, that way at least you're not just throwing it away.

I'l swap you a perfect campy seat post identical to yours for the rusty frame and stuck seat post.

That will save you cutting up the frame to try and get the post out.

deal or no deal?

I almost scrapped this Raleigh Competition frame because it was dented and I didn't have the fork. Now I'm glad that I didn't.

Nice bike! If you have the tools, you can make some frame blocks out of a dense wood to pop the dent out.

RGF is the manufacturer of the BB shell. They were a supplier to many framebuilders.

I got really aggravated last week and took a sledge hammer to a Giant ladies bike.

Felt GREAT.

I gotta get rid of that frame now though....it kinda makes me feel guilty when i look at it.
