Please -- Bike build questions -- ARX RD and Dia Compe break levers

Hi All,

I am building up the Bianchi Randonneur and have a couple of questions about components I haven't used before.

First, it came with a Suntour ARX long cage RD. I will be using friction Suntour bar ends. Is the ARX RD worth using or should I use a 105 RD I have on hand? (7-speed 14-28 cassette -- I know the 105 can handle it)

Second, the bike came with flat bars so I am adding drops and brake levers to operate Dia Compe cantis. I have an old set of Dia Compe aero levers with out the spring return that I have never used. Do the brakes have enough spring to return the levers or should I put on a set of 105's?

Thanks

Yes, use the ARX.
Yes, the Dia Compe aero levers will work fine.

Jeff, I appreciate you informed thoughts (I went to your website). Just want to bump this up to see if there are any more opinions before I begin to put this puppy together.

Thanks

I think if the canti's aren't labeled* SLR (Shimano) or BRS (Suntour/Dia Compe) then they weren't designed for the spring loaded lever.

* or came with a group where the lever's were labeled/spring loaded.
