Update
Here is the update.
First I really like this bike.
Frame cleaned up nice, the hardest part to come off was the pedals.
Bottom Bracket was shot. It ground itself to death.
New Shimano cartridge BB installed.
Rims are 27" with a big hop in the back, front is good.
I think I will rebuild with 700c rims.
The bike is a 1988.
I really enjoy fixing these old steel bikes.
Any comments?

^ You are not alone.
- Many of us find it very satisfying to rehab these old road bikes so that they look and ride like new, and with this Nishiki, you picked an excellent subject. -IMO all the Nishiki's from this period are excellent rides.
PS - I am pretty sure you know this, but I'll say it anyway: Be sure you have the reach on the calipers before you commit to the 27 to 700c conversion.

I tried red tape to try and bring out the Nishiki stickers.

I like the red tape. That's a nice bike - and what fun to fix it up.
