Newbie with Question.
Hello, Forest here. I am a runner getting into triathalons, I was given a Schwinn frame, and Ineed to know 1. if it is worth rebuilding (it has a small split in the chain stay. the split is about 1" long ad it is inside the indention on the inside close to the seat post). The serial # is on the rear dropout and is SC300133. The color is Burgandy with cream or tan on the head tube. a sticker on the bottom of the seat post has 4130 chrome moly, it has suntour deraillers, weinmann single pull brakes, a sugino crank (tapered square) shifters are on top of the down tube and the wheels that came with it are 27 X 1 1/4, but I am pretty sure that they are not original. Any information would be helpful, thanks.

Howdy and welcome to the forums! Got a pic of the damage, sounds like it might be ruined.

Strange place to see that kind of damage... looks like someone tried to clamp something on to the chain stay there, but it would be behind the crank so I can't imagine what it would be... a trainer maybe or workstand?
Unlikely to fail catastrophically so it might make an OK neighborhood bike, not worth spending much money on though.
