Why aren't these Sugino cranks on Velobase?
Are they too cool for school?
Anyhow, these are my new babies. Gonna go on something dadgummit. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...r_Sale1244.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...r_Sale1246.jpg http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/g...r_Sale1245.jpg |
We're waiting for you to post them there, that's why!
Nice cranks, I've seen them before but never owned any. |

Pretty much this. I haven't had an opportunity to add them! :) Feel free to register for a free account on VeloBase, if you PM me your VeloBase log-in username I will upgrade your account so you can add those cool looking old Sugino cranks. Else, I can add them with your photos if you provide your approval to do so.

Pe-cursor to the Sugino PX if I remember correctly. My PX crankset:

Because they're overpriced for C&V . . . much better to buy some TAs or Stronglights that were the original anyway.

Fender, your crankarm is mounted about 165 degrees off in relation to the chainrings. In relation to the position the rings are in this photo, the arm is supposed to be pointing upwards, parallel to the seat tube.

I've always wanted a Super Maxy to go along with my Super Mighty and Mighty Tour cranksets.

TA Pro 5 Vis cranksets, on the other hand, are designed so that the logo sits on the first spider arm to the left of the crankarm line: http://www.jaysmarine.com/TApro5vis2.jpg Look for the one bolt in the 5-bolt 50.4 BCD bolt pattern that is perfectly centered with the opening in the chainring above it - this is the bolt you line up the crankarm with. -Kurt |
^^^ Ok, now I get it. Fix will happen shortly. Thanks for the heads up!

Did I mount these correctly? And does it matter (functionally) in the least?

I had no idea there was a right or wrong way. I just centered the chainring logos opposite of the crank arm.

That's so shiny! It'll be really useful if you ever need to shave while on a long unsupported tour. :-)
|
It doesn't affect the function at all, its just one of those things like orienting the hub so that you can read the hub brand through the Valve stem hole in the rim when you build a wheel.

it's on Velobase now :)

The local co-op has a vintage Maxy Cross at the bottom of the box but only the drive side. Nice looking crankset though. (if anyone has a non-drive side arm in red, let me know!)

also, fyi for all who want to upload to VeloBase.com, there's a handy little photo Crop tool built into the Photo Manager to crop out extra background and zoom in on just the part(s) in the photo. Just click on the http://velobase.com/App_Themes/VeloB...ruler_crop.png icon. :thumb: |
