OK, How Many Bikes are in your Project Backlog??

I finally got the courage to count up the number of bikes in my backlog. I knew it was going to be high, but figured with the reduced number of bikes I have bought lately, and the large number of sales, it wouldn't be too bad.

Well, I counted it up and I still have 35 bikes to go..... I think I know what I will be doing for the next few months.

How many in your backlog??

35??? Ho-ly. Well, since you're flipping I guess it makes sense that you'd have a ton on the go.

I only have riders and I have:

1. A CCM tandem that needs it's shift cable replaced, and the coaster brake arm fixed. Not rideable.
2. A Jeunet that is partway through a 1x6 speed mod. Not rideable.
3. A Raleigh mixtie that needs a wheelset and then it's a good loaner/for sale bike. Not rideable.
4. My Cross-Check needs it's STI, cantis and fast tires installed for race season. Currently rideable
5. My Stumpjumper needs a few spokes replaced, the brake rotors trued, the rear hub serviced, and the front tire replaced. Rideable, but underperforming.
6. My wife's Marinoni needs a front axle swap, the current one is a bolt-on. Rideable but she's pooched if she gets a flat.
7. A Kona Blast that needs the cranks looked at and then I can get it out of here. Rideable, but ****ty.
8. My Bianchi roadie needs frame repairs and a paint job. Then all the 7402 stuff needs to be repacked, and tuned up. It's currently in beater mode and the tires won't stay aired up no matter what. Not rideable.
9. My wife's DeKerf needs building up. Not rideable.

Man, I got work to do! The wife's away for the weekend and I got a paper to write so I actually see some of this getting done real soon...

light right now, trying to ride more and fiddle less

1. New handle bars for my Miyata......

2. Supervise my son in rehabing two kids bikes for a charity https://www.goodkarmabikes.org/

3. rebuild my wifes bike if I can source a frame (cracked electra frame, non warranty, but may get som help from electra)

4. thinking about building a single speed, wood fenders, etc. If I fall over the right frame/donor bike... it will happen might have a line on a torpado in rough shape

8 personal/family bikes.
5 flippers.
Yikes! When did that happen?!?
Bill, what have you started?

But then again, I'm busy renovating our kitchen, and too hot to be in the garage this time of year.

Let's see.

A Tommasini Sintesi rebuild w/ 10 speed Centaur/ Record.
A Walter Croll build from the ground up with a "to be decided" color. A grey Campy 10 speed Centaur naturally.
A Bob Jackson - frame is off for some brazing repairs- then everything goes back on this winter and she'll be available to a "to be determined" forumite by the spring.
A Parkpre Sledgehammer/Catalyst - nothing like a pink and light blue splatter paint mountain bike.
and a brand new Rawland rSogn 650 b when it shows up. My racer for next season. Yep, I'm racing again.

Five then.

but maybe a sixth as well if a Goodrich frameset pans out. Won't keep that one, but will collect the components for the build.

That's not so bad for me.

35-50 at any given time, if I count framesets. I dont really keep track, I always end up buying more than I sell anyway.

1) 74 Italvega Super Speciale, Campy NR, waiting on some drillum work.
2) 80 Univega Super Strada, full DA 7100, holding pattern.
3) 83ish Fuji Team Fuji, frame in serious need of love, at the powdercoater, will be a single speed.
4) 75 Fuji Professional, just arrived this week from Mr. Ryder in Boston who facilitated.

Order I'll complete them probably? 3, 1, 4, 2

Then, the awful decisions will follow

I don't have the space that a lot of you guys have. No yard, and a 2 bedroom apartment. I get the 2nd bedroom for all my junk, basically. So I really can't have more than 2 bikes at a time. Right now we have 3, counting my girlfriend's bike. But that lives in the living room, usually.

In answer to the question, just one. That 70's Atala I posted about a few days back. I just ordered some parts for it, so I should be working on it next week, or maybe this weekend if all goes well.

Only two...

74 PR-10 531, and a 80s PX-10 SLX - Both destined to be Frankenbikes but at least the PR-10 will have components from the 70s except for the wheels - And damit I am going to put bull horns on the PX-10...

Gianni Motta is now done
next up:
1. (modern steel) Vassago Fisticuff, Nexus7 IGH, converting to moustache bars, but my Dia-Compe levers were missing the large ferrule. Very minor stumbing block.
2. Peugeot PXN-10, need to build two new wheels. have rims & hubs, but haven't even calculated the spoke lengths yet. Then clean the remaining components and reassemble.
3. '83 Trek 600, converting to more like an '83 620 - really I could put the last bits on, but I have one place where I want to retouch the paint.
4. '72 CNC - have all the parts now, but it's stripped bare naked. Painting, since I have to do it outdoors, will have to wait for lower heat/humidity.

Only 4 - that's pretty good for me.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. I had done real good in not acquiring anything since February:

1 - early 70's Peugeot, just need to get the #$#&#*@# cotters out and I'll be finishing it up
2 - Scott Sawtooth mtb - tried to sell as frameset, now putting together with parts laying around and will try to flip (cheaply)
3 - Motobecane mixte - needs tires and grease
4 - Motobecane mixte frameset - will sell, not going to build up
5 - Univega Supra Sport - build up for my 15yo son so I can give my brother his Raleigh back
6 - Peugeot Limestone hybrid - first foray into this type of bike

Crap - that's more than I thought. I've also been trying to ride more, but the bikes are obviously stacking up. More importantly I need to clean out the bike room again.

5 to flip, 2-3 for myself, 2 bare frames. likely to be completed in that order since I have 3 bikes to rotate for commmuting use.
