RARE 1977 SEKINE (IC) MECHA VX-GTO 5- SPEED BIKE:

I just wanted to make sure so I can snipe it.

look at that cockpit:

Disc brakes!

it's cute

makes a statement:

Oh yeah, "I C" where you're going with this

It's a good thing I'm married, because if not, I'd buy this thing, and I'd have to beat the girls off of me when I rode this thing around town, blasting the Doobie Brothers on the transistor radio.

Anyway, don't bid on it. It's mine.

Isn't this "the world's finest bicycle"? I keep seeing a thread to that effect pop up around here, but I'm just not curious enough to open it.

That's funny since I've seen the same thread myself many times, yet never opened it. Same with the "history of ross" or whatever that other stupid one is.

Actually, it is the "World Finest Bicycle". No apostrophe - s. I've got a made-in-Japan model.

(edit -- this, despite my signature, which I lifted from one of the catalogs.)

Ross's history contains our favorite guys from Spectrum, and Redcay, so I am interested in that, at least for the 4 years where they made bikes suitable for riding.

Man have you hit the wrong guy - I absoutely hate the whole Rocky thing.

We have real boxers here who won real belts.

I do like the MTB though - a Mt. Hood?

Billy Joel isnt from PA, he just sang about Allentown, that's all.

some of those Ross bikes are pretty cool. I just can't bother myself with reading a 7,000 page thread about them. I'd rather spend my time most constructively, like talking about flexy Berthoud rails, Riven-err-De Rosas, and other useful internet information.

I think Neal was right all along. What do you get when you put ca. 1976 Sylvester Stallone and Billy Joel in a hotel room on the outskirts of Philly with a case of Yuengling? See above.

I hate admitting this, but the first record I ever owned was a 45 of Piano Man. I won it playing darts when I was about 5.

And Stallone isnt from here either. And it's not cool to be into Stallone if you live in Philly. Just like it's not cool to say "San Fran" if you live in San Francisco. It's SF. But no one is really from SF, so whatever.

Everyone I know in Philly loves Stallone.

It's not cool, or sensible, to like Pats or Genos.

let's get back to this beautiful bicycle. I think I'd only ride it wearing an orange safety vest and a helmet with drink holders. Thoughts?

Yeah, well, I went out and bought the 45 of "Dark Lady" by Cher (and my sister had "Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks!).

It's okay, though. I eventually found my way to The Kink Kronikles and saw the light.

you're not hanging out wit the "cool" people then.

Though I will give you that Rocky is almost always playing in South Philly Tap room when I used to go there.
