That's a grey rat that Flynn seems to be in love with. One of those 99 cent toys from ikea.

Found some old photos - the one C&V item I never should have sold.

Aahahaha, I didn't see the toy at first, and I thought you were making a joke about her dog.
Flynn is way too cute to be a rat

No, they had Ultra on the center cap. They always seemed "right" on the car

Happy belated birthday! Those cable cutters are NICE to have. It probably goes without saying, but the handles do a really nice job of crimping cable ends too. I did not realize that, took me about a year to figure out.

I got an early Christmas present. Now.... I was supposed to wait to use it on Christmas morning, but I am weak. I've been really driving everyone nuts with constant French press research and talk. Now I have to find a good burr grinder. My daughter's fisher price tea pot makes what could be the best tea that I have EVER tasted, and it's SO polite.

I used my Bodum for 12 years and still use it when I need to make more coffee for company, but about a year ago I discovered the Clever Dripper and, for the most part, that's my go-to. It's essentially a French press without the sludge (uses a paper filter). Gotta have that burr grinder; mine is LOUD, though. That teapot is darling, darling.

Cool, never seen one of those before. The bodum appealed to me because it will make enough coffee to fill my thermos that I carry to work. I think the Chemex brewers look interesting too. I can see trying one of those in the future.

What kind of burr grinder do you use? I've been looking at some of the hand cranked versions, like a Hario, but I see some complaints about the coarse grind quality. There are the vintage German ones, like a Zassenhaus, but they aren't exactly cheap and may require some refurbishing. I'd like to find a relatively nice, sub 100 dollar grinder. It sounds like the vintage ones could possibly be higher quality?

I haven't really looked into it, but I can see vintage ones and hand cranked ones being better quality. I use a Cuisinart grinder that cost around $50, if I remember correctly; it's been fine. I agree, I'll probably buy a Chemex at some point just to have another cool toy.

Edit: this is the one I use.

Over 30 years of faithful service in my family turning out perfect adjustable grind. We did a longish stretch drinking Toddy coffee concentrate when our kids were young and time was scarce and I'm thinking of getting a new one for all those times when i just want a quick cup or mug on the fly.

Ah, nice! I was eyeballing the countertop versions. Have you ever had to do any type of maintenance or replace the burrs on an old mill? How is the coarse grind consistency on a mill like that? I thought I had one in the bag on ebay today.... but it slipped through my fingers! I like the idea of taking it apart to clean and inspect the workings, that also makes me nervous. Unfortunately, I am obsessing over it. We have a GREAT coffee house just down the street, Muggswigz Coffee and Tea. I bought some beans that they roasted and just had them grind it up for me. Not ideal, but it will work until I get my own solution. Lots of cool coffee toys out there, vacuum pots, siphons, aeropress... must try them ALL!

Ah, that reminds me of my grandmothers' houses (both of them). Really nice those old Dutch coffee grinders - even though yours is from a brand of caffeine free coffee, and i think that's an abhorrence
