Possibly. I picked it up on CL for $90 and the previous owner had bought it with the stickers removed so there's no telling. I checked the serial number and for sure it is a 1980's schwinn, just don't know exacly which one.

Rubberlegs: Thanks for the welcome. I've really loved biking for 3 years now but until now have only rode old 1 speed beach cruisers and my dad's old wal-mart mountain bike. I was commuting on an old huffy cruiser 12 miles round-trip every day for awhile with nasty headwinds, and finally decided to drop some serious cash(for me atleast) on a better bike because I moved and have to commute 18 miles round now. Hopefully I get some good use out of this one. For sure I will be one of the few with a road bike at my University, everyone here rides beach cruisers; we are on an island after all.

Yup, does look a bit more like a Varsity, an 80 World was lugged frame and cotterless cranks, looks like you have One-piece. Varsity is a SOLID, low maintenance bike...should get years of service out of her. Too nice a bike on campus, and they tend to "walk" off. When I got back into cycling, I had a Target MTB....and after a 25 mile ride chasing my 12 yr old...decided it was time to get back in...rebuilt a 79 Schwinn LeTOur ($25) but put a LOT of time and a chunk of $$ into it....Much faster and better than an old MTB for SURE!

The one piece crank, the chromed cap on the fork crown and the pinstriping on the fork, the seemingly very relaxed angles and the weird seatpost clamp that appear on electroforged frames were my clues. Schwinn made the same frame for something like 25 years, and they sure are rugged.

Awesome! Thanks for all of the input. I looked at some pictures of the Varsity and I think you all are right. Defineately a Schwinn Varsity. Can't wait to take it out for a spin again tomorrow. Hell I might go right meow.

This nice little van showed up in my street. Not too common over here.

Hiked the Chimney Tops today, and climbed all the way up to the top.

Then came home and finished off my 64 Sports canvas project. Did an image transfer with gesso (not great, but not bad) and did some stuff with colored pencil, paint, ink, etc. The picture doesn't do it justice, but if I had had caulk instead of gesso, the transfer would have worked so much better. I was going for the matte poster look you sometimes see on sale at places like Hobby Lobby.

This nearly killed me. Happened on a 30 mph decent during a bend in the road.
