I won't bore you today with more pics of bikes you've already seen. Instead, I'll show you the incredible views I saw last night on my ride to Indian Mounds Park. This one from the Lafayette Bridge; and thank you Mr. Pigeon for making a cameo appearance:

...and this one from up on the bluffs at the park:

Finally, for some reason I felt compelled to shoot this house - a little slice of "The American Dream", I guess:

Anyway, it was a great night for a ride.

@DQRider -- you're making me miss Minneapolis. Beautiful shots.

I'm not much of a photographer, but I did have a shake-down commute after I rebuilt my old-favorite into my everyday around down bike. I had it built as my C&V roadie, but it wasn't getting ridden as much as I like the bike. Plus I have another bike I'd like to build as my full C&V road bike.

1983 Trek 620 with 700c wheels I built, original rear rack, Soma mini front (great match for this vintage of bikes), beat up Wald basket, re-used cotton tape over Albatross bars, VO city levers from a forum member, etc etc. Still a few things to dial in like swapping out the 28s for 32s I have in the basement, but 95% there.

size of marbles and covered the ground. Staying off the bike again today to give the back time to heal.

Yet another rainy, dreary day here in the NYC area. One can barely see the Palisades from my vantage point across the Hudson at the Yonkers City Pier.

Ha, same here...there's still time... I've loved them since attending an event at Lime Rock Park as a young kid - my memory of the car's details has blurred, but they had a single seater probably from sometime in the mid-60s sitting on the lawn that I was allowed to sit in. That did it. A dream car of mine is the 275 GTB/4 in that lovely silver color. Or a a 330 P4...

The Historic Festival at Lime Rock Park always has some stunning examples. I should have a pic of a 250 GTO that was there a couple years back. I'll post it up here later.

Oh yeah, those are two of the great ones, and who needs to drive on the streets amongst the peasantry? These cars were built for racin', dude! Although I could really enjoy a nice, long grand tour of Europe in that 275... Wayne Carini (sp?) on Chasing Classic Cars sold a NART Spyder for charity once; I think that would be my choice. I've always liked the 166MM too, and the song "Red Barchetta"... OH! Right, this is a Photo Thread. Okay, here are some photos...

Woke up at 0430 this morning and chased the sunrise down to the river on The French Bike. Still playing around with black and white:

Gotta put the bike in at least one:

... and a token color shot:

More color later on.

Yeah, we had our gloom-a-thon a couple weeks ago, so I know what you mean. Darned frustrating being stuck in the house looking at other people's pictures of beach scenes and mountains, etc. But I'll bet when the sun comes out again, you will be back in here with some interesting cityscapes - and I look forward to it.

Man, I love this thread! Awesome pics, Sir_Name. My Dad and I, with some other family members, used to go to the SVRA Vintage Races every year at Road America. I rode my motorcycle there and camped at the track - they stayed in a local hotel. I think I would like to go back there with a bicycle now, it would be perfect for spectating at all the various corners.

I have seen that very same Alfa at the Road America races, but for some reason, I've never seen a GTO there. My racing days were on motorcycles with CRA out of Brainerd. I raced a Ducati 900SS in the Middleweight class. There is no other thrill quite like that.

@-holiday76, that is a brilliant shot! Carnivals are excellent photographic subjects. I like to bring a tripod with me and do some long exposures of the spinning rides at night.

Please pardon my ignorance, as I don't even own a cellphone, but what is an "instagram filter"? Is that something like Photoshop or Lightroom (my favorite)?

What I have found is that digital photographs often come out just like the old happy-snaps you got from the drugstore or one of those little film-processing "huts" (can't think of the name anymore - how sad is that?) Since I used to do all my own film processing and printing, I like to have the same tools available for digital processing as they are in Lightroom. The key for me is to never do anything in digital manipulation that I couldn't accomplish in a darkroom. What I try to do is emulate the warm, sharp "Kodachrome" effect; and that comes from a childhood fascination with "National Geographic Magazine".

Here are two scenes I believe I took within 24 hours of each other, both from a bicycle. The first at sunrise, on the way out:

... and the second at mid-afternoon on the way home:

Me, too! Discovered Ferrari and Formula One about the same time: 1979. Nothing quite like Ferrari...

I've been hiking my ass off. I find it as strenuous as a hard bike ride, but it seems right now I can do it for longer and with less pain. Anyway, these two pics were shot a couple days apart (a rest day in between). They share a ridge that separates them (on the right in the first pic). These days, when hiking to an alpine lake, I always climb an avalanche chute on the opposite end to get an elevation shot. So much more cool than shoreline pics IMHO.

Heather Lake:

Lake Twenty-Two:

The best thing about both getting to these lakes (on the Mountain Loop Highway) is the country back roads drive. I finally aired out the Dinan 3 for the first time in months on those roads. God, how I've missed letting that car loose

No Ferrari, no, no mountain. Just a very strange bike spotted on today's ride. I've posted this elsewhere but it's strange enough that it deserves to be posted here.

Excellent images all! This is one of my favorite threads in the forums. Cycling takes me to places I couldn't reach in a car, and it's a perfect vehicle for photography.

Here is my pale imitation of the carnival shot a few posts back. This would have looked brilliant at night, but I wasn't going to hang around the K-mart parking lot for three hours waiting for it. I guess I'm just not very dedicated...

... and here's one a bit earlier in the day, on the same ride. I want to go back and get this same shot in the Fall.
