I like the color. Looking forward to seeing it in proper light, shined up and chrome exposed.

As usual, you are right, @fender1. I will not be adding more paint. I took a look yesterday, and there is enough paint. I will at least sand the portions I haven't yet sanded. A bit of paint comes off on the foam pad that I use to apply the polishing wax, which is a good indicator that it's doing what I want.
Is there a way to buff with a drill? I'm envisioning a rag on a stick or something like that. Is that nuts?
Thanks for the push, @fender1. This project has dragged on so long, I no longer have the parts assembled neatly in a box. I have to go to all the far reaches of my junk collections to gather them. I'm not even sure if I have a suitable rear wheel. But I really, really ought to have everything. If not, something is very wrong, because I have so many tons of spare bike parts.

I brought some components down from the country today so I can start hanging them on the bike.
The paint is a disgrace. I guess I'll learn to like it by looking at it as theft deterrent.

Honestly, build it and ride it. The summer is coming, and there's nothing better than a bike. I don't like wrenching in the summer because it seems like a waste of good weather. If you really like it, there's a powdercoater in Brooklyn who can strip off what you've got and put on a nice coat of whatever color you like for $120. In the end, that price would be worth it.

I agree!
And Tim, who's this powdercoater?

Good advice. Thank you, @TimmyT and @fender1 for your counseling. I'll be building the bike soon. @TimmyT, I might use the Wald Northroad bars I got from you.

Soon, I'll take it out into the sunlight and shoot the best pictures I can. We can play one-downsmapship with each other.

Careful! Somewhere on the interwebs, there is a picture of noglider on his Super Course wearing a giant scarf and a Maplewood hat. The Maplewood hat looks like a starfish trying to digest his head while cutting off his air supply with the scarf. The Super Course is there for its multicolored beater-ness.

I just can't believe it's that bad. If you're not in a hurry (and so far you've shown no impatience, so why start now?) just keep at it with the wet sanding and spray on another thin coat of paint as necessary.

Rudi, I'll let you be the judge of whether the paint is bad. I don't have any more patience for sanding. I think my recent mistake with sanding was using too fine sandpaper, so the irregularities of thickness show.
Either I will learn to accept it as it looks, or I will look at it as theft deterrent. Maybe I'll redo it one day, either myself or by the hands of a pro.
Gotta find or build a rear wheel.
My Super Course is well documented elsewhere. I never tried to make it look nice. As @lostarchitect says, it's crusty!

@noglider . . . is this your project bike I keep reading about? looks like you are at a point after the rear wheel where 3-4 hours would have it assembled? I am too impatient to get things perfect . . . I just want to ride them

Maybe I'll move the components from an existing bike just to get an idea of how it rides.

Tom . . . .in your own good time. Good things take time, just wondering if you will still be able to ride when it gets finished?
I have a couple of projects waiting and they keep getting moved back by other projects and well time spent on here talking about building bikes???
Looks like a lovely start, you could always sticker bomb the areas where you are not happy with the paint.
A little trick I learnt is to put some hot water from the tap(not boiling and no more than about 55 degrees) into a plastic container, put your can of choice into the container so that it can not fall over, leave it for about 4 mins, this will increase the pressure in the can while also thinning the paint, result is a very fine spray that is easier to layer.
Straight out of the can most spray paints are simply to thick . . .way too thick, with a thinner paint your first coat can be just over the detailing(seat cluster, lugs etc) before the full coat this ensures good coverage in difficult places.
Anyway that was a waste of time considering you are over painting at this stage.
Nice frame/fork, a very nice start, your wheel is lovely . . .your dogs think so too, only they will keep you guessing!!
