Raising Calipers on Older (1998 Mirage) Campag brakes
I'm not sure whether this is possible without serious kludging, but the rear brake caliper on my Bianchi would give me clearance for a larger tire if I could just raise the whole assembly by a couple of millimeters. There'd be no problem moving the pads down to make up the difference -- there's space in the slots. Someone used to make a "drop bolt" that would allow you to lower the whole assembly -- I was thinking the same thing, reversed, might do what I'm looking to do? Is there an easier method?
The caliper is an 1998 Avanti, which is essentially the same as a Mirage. It does seem as if the more recent Campagnolo calipers have slightly more headroom -- should I just buy a 10-speed Centaur caliper? (Would it be compatible?)

You could try mounting a drop bolt upside down, but I suspect clearance under the brake bridge might still be an issue.

Has anyone ever compared the clearance on the newer Campag calipers? Just judging from photos, it seems they might give me a couple more millimeters.
