hey , new to the classic forums. Thought I'd share my old ride. I've owned it since new. Been raced to death, ridden over the famous passes in the Alps spectating the Tour, then put to pasture for 2 decades now while other steeds took its place. I was going to donate it or junk it. Was sitting under my porch in the rain for months, LOL.
Then my new mother in law mentioned how interesting the bike looked. Later I came across some forums about classic bikes and got me thinking .. hey my bike is classic now. Wouldn't it be nice to bring it back to glorious shape, ride once in a while, hang on a wall to decorate my den?
looked like this 2 months ago. Mongrel selection of parts. Had only seen turbo trainer duty for past 15 years.
some ugly car paint where I used a torch to try and remove the stuck seat post (this did not work)
yuck
So I shipped it off to a reputable bike painter. Toxiklabs in RIchmond, BC Canada. here is what inspires the new Carerra team Battaglin paint job:
Roche
Chiapucci
Fotoalbum Fotoalbum Claudio Chiappucci
And I am sure most saw this recent vid on GCN, featuring this bike too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZbVsrYPOGE
got the frame back from Toxiklabs
I got the joy of hand painting the pantographs and applying the reproduction decals.
rounded up a group of vintage Athena and Chorus on Ebay, so now it is all Campy-Cinelli parts. But still shopping for a good set of 80s tubular wheels. Wheels I have are beater wheels used as spares at criteriums, back in the day. Found one dealer with NOS Benotto cello tape. Vintage Rolls saddle - with patina.
Might try to find a good set of Campy toeclip pedals. Though I have 3 sets of 1980s vintage TIME pedals, like the magnesium boat anchors shown here. But can't put my TIME cleats on any shoes these days.

hey thanks for the props guys. I will be sure to post the completed builds in a week or two. I snagged a nice set of 80s vintage tubular wheels, with campy hubs on eBay yesterday for this bike (the ones currently on the bike are mismatched and beat up - rear is a 40 hole campy Record high flange hub and a touring rim I think my dad built in the mid 70s). I also brainfarted one thing: accidentally threw out the step-down ferrule for the rear derailleur cable. Local shops don't even know what that is, hehe.

Rare and unusual Cinelli 'Mens Sana In Corpore Sano' built with period correct-ish Shimano 600 tricolor, including non-aero 6400 brake levers. Obviously not a Supercorsa but displays many of the same build details as my '78 Corsa. Columbis Cromor, flying 'C' and dove pantographs abound. Was a display item in a bike shop for years, I picked up the frame a year or so ago and located the pieces one by one.

So, this is the Cinelli that's going to stick around. Bought the frame from Tom Kellogg and the groupset from CicliCorsa in Bergamo.
My first foray into Patent 80 Campagnolo and must say I'm impressed with the shifting and brakes.

Yeah, I had been looking at the Centurion ones too. But then got the opportunity to buy this frame with a full Spectrum restoration including new chrome and just couldn't pass it up.

The Cinelli brings back memories. I never owned one, but worked on a few just like it. Very nice!

My 82' Rossin Record I have been restoring over the last few months. I picked up the bike in early fall with all the original parts except the wheels and saddle.
- It is Super Record drivetrain, shifters, brakes, post, levers
- cinelli 1R stem and cinelli 66 bars.
- Bennotto Celo Bar wrap on after I tried some sew-on leather wrap which just didn't work, to short.
- Campy cables
- saddle is a nos Turbo
- wheels are nos Nisi Countach tubular rims that I had laced to nuovo record hubs.
- Tires are Clement Criterium Tubulars
- vintage REG water bottle cage
way more money in this bike that it is probably worth but I adore it. The frame and fork were pretty roached when I received it but cleaned it up and got a really nice new paint and decals.

Hi folks. Fairly new here. I've been a fan of all things Italian since my early teens, where I'd hang out at the Bike Haus in Hays, Kansas, owned by John Schlitter (First 'bent rider to finish RAAM in 2008, 9th overall. Brother of Randy, founder of Rans 'bents, crank forwards, and aircraft.) John taught me how to work on bikes and let me wrench for components. Anyway I found this on CL in Phoenix. Supposedly I bought it from the second owner. It was too big for him. Assembled at a shop in Phoenix in the 80's. Everything is as built except the toe straps. (I have the original Campys) Early Rigida AL1320 clincher rims. The bar tape is wearing out. I'm thinking about the leather stitched Almarc type wrap from Germany that's on Ebay. Has anyone tried it? New brake hoods are needed as well.

@dgerst Welcome to the forums. Lovely Guerciotti. Reprodocution hoods for Campy brakes are pretty commonly available on eBay from a number of sellers in Italy (reasonable price, high shipping). I recently bought four sets to reduce the per-set shipping cost. I'd be happy to let go of a set. If you decide you don't like the Regal saddle, let me know. I've been thinking about trying one. I might be interested in taking it off your hands.

1955 Raleigh Lenton, Reg Harris Road Model.
Had the matching toe straps and swapped out the rack for a Carradice bag, swapped the Lycette from my '54 (it got the Wright's W35).
I love riding this bicycle, it is so smooth and comfortable and the hum of those Dunlops on the road is like nothing else.

I know this is an old thread, but where did you get the handlebars for this bike? Did they come with it? I am trying to build a replica Lenton, but can't find handlebars to go with the old original stem. Thanks

Mid to late '80's Proctor Townsend
This was last winter's project that is finally almost finished this winter. The bike is for my wife and she is thrilled with the way it looks and is anxious to give it a test ride once the roads are a little dryer and cleaner.
As found:
Thoroughly cleaned, greased, etc. and with new tape, cables, housing, tires.
New Tri Colour (CDN spelling) brake calipers and levers, cranks and rings and pedals to match the original FD and RD.
A temporary Araya red label wheel set while I get the TriColour hubs laced to an appropriate wheel set.
The seat and post are temporary until my wife tests the seat for comfort although she does like the look of it.
Thanks to @Sixtyfiver for his part in pulling this together.
Brad
