How old is my Hercules?
Hi
I have recently bought and am busy restoring an old Hercules men's bicycle. Its black, sturmey-archer two-speed and has rod-brakes. The code printed on the main stem under the seat reads: LU 6909
Greetings from sunny South Africa!

Is there no date on the SA hub? The only two speed SA hub I can think of is an obscure automatic hub,or some pre-war hubs for sporty bikes https://www.sheldonbrown.com/sturmey-archer.html not the sort of bikes that had rod brakes. Or might it really be a 3 speed hub? What sort of shifter does it have? a thumb shifter or top tube mounted shifter? Any pics you could post?
