Yup, I know. As I mentioned above, I set up up that way for the sake of the chain line + clearance. I have tried it the proper way as well, and also rotated the ring to all five possible positions on the bolt pattern; still the slight lumpiness. Some day I'll get a proper length spindle and re-jigger my chainguard mounts to make them adjustable and put the ring back on the right way just so it looks right.
