So thought I should add my 1989 Centurion Triathlon Master to this thread as well. When I bought it, it had 600 tricolor but unfortunately it was very weather so it had to be removed.
I decided to build it with Ultegra 6600 10sp with Shimano RS80 wheelset. I've done around 2000 miles on it and it's been fantastic.

Anybody got a Shimano 600 Rear Derailieur from a 85 Ironman they want to part with. the Dark anodized one.
This girl has a 600 Ultegra unit but i want to go back to stock on it.
And did the 85 have Dark anodized 600 Brake levers or was that 1986? most of all the pics ive seen of the 1985's dont have the Anodized ones.

I volunteer with a local bike CO-OP and we are going to setup a small museum more like a wall with some bikes that we owned that are restored. since this bike is to small for me I am restoring it to at least era correct for it to be on display.
It looks like in the catalogs that the rear derailieur was not the standard 600 (6207) color of silver it was dark anodized. but not sure if it was the picture messing with me..

the combination of the newer componentry and the Grey and white in the master frame, flow very well together .. well done!

"Its been fantastic" is a great compliment coming from someone who knows what a good bike is. Ride on.

Looks just like an 87 IM Master. There was also a Novara Trionfo with the marine green color scheme matching the other 87 IM Master.
It wouldn't surprise me if Novara was working with the same Japanese company, Tano, which worked with both the American and German Centurion bicycle companies.

Unless you got a great deal on everything, it's unlikely you'll recover your investment. My guess on value would be $300-$350 for a local CL sale and $400ish on eBay. RobbieTunes just sold a few and could probably give you a better gauge.

Beautiful 85. I love the 10 speed treatment with the tricolor group.

I'm into that bike for about $400 total, so that would be my breaking point. I'm still not sure if I'll list it or not. I do really like it.

Well today marks a year since I joined BF. I'll tell ya it's been fun. What brought me here was looking for info on my 88 yellow fade master. I had two classic 86 Ironman and didn't know much about the 88. Initially I bought the 2nd and 3rd Ironman trying to get a smaller size. The 86 classic 50 cm was too small, the 88 52cm was a better fit. But now I have stayed with my 54cm size.
I was gonna celebrate by starting my first thread. I decided to go with the Foo subforum. The title famous people from your state, name em. However I got a 8th way through it and just got tired of typing and researching. But some famous Texans that will surprise some people (not me I already knew) were, sports: George Foreman,Babe Didrikson. music: Barry White,Sly Stone. actors: Joan Crawford,Steve Martin. politics: Dwight D. Eisenhower. others Bonnie and Clyde, Walter Cronkite, Howard Hughes. I was only listing Texans who were born here not grew up here to narrow it down so people like the Bush presidents and Bozz Skaggs weren't gonna make the list. Besides there are a bunch of famous Texan websites. Google famous Texans it's mind boggling.
Anyways, I've learned a lot in a year. Mostly don't engage the crazies. But so much Ironman wise. I'm almost done with my Ironman collection, I'll have a carbon Ironman before I stop. But I'm most thankful for the inspiration y'alls Ironman have given me. With only a handful exceptions EVERYONE'S IRONMAN LOOKS BETTER THAN MINE! DANG IT!
Since I've become a dad to my 21 month old daughter, BF is my main source of adult interaction during the day. So forgive me if I sometimes ramble, scratch that most times ramble.
Summer is here! And I'm loving and living it!
Later Irongents.
P.S. my next post will be about my "new" 89 Ironman.

Keener splendor
I going back to stock so im going from 7 speed friction (600 Friction Shifters, Tricolor Derailleur, Dura Ace 7 Speed Freewheel) back to 600 Derailleur and Cassette. I want to restore it to at least era correct. 600 (6207) with 6 speed freewheel.
I volunteer with a local bike CO-OP and we are going to setup a small museum more like a wall with some bikes that we owned that are restored. since this bike is to small for me I am restoring it to at least era correct for it to be on display.

I'm pretty sure I have one that's usable with a little road rash. I can dig it out if you want. I also have a 600ex 6 speed freewheel. PM if interested on any of this.

Still learning
I guess it depends on how much you got in it whether you'll lose money. That is such a good looking and nicely setup bike that I don't see how you can get what I think it's worth. When RT went on his selling spree I dont think he got what he put in to each of his, but I doubt that was his goal. I'd think you'd have to ask someone who can be more objective like @oddjob2.
I am reporting in as requested, as the official supplier of the 1988 Ironman frame in Robbietunes current bike rotation. LOL Beautiful build, excellent photos. I don't know the market demand for vintage in the home of the Toyota Camry, but your odds go up in August when the students return to UK and Transylvania.
In September, I sold my pristine smoke blue 1989 Expert with GPX kit for $450, with a lot of patience. It went for not much more than I had invested. The buyer was a Californian, who happened to be a musicology grad student at UM. Hope he never had to carry his bass via bike!
But in December, I picked up a red 1985 Master in Ann Arbor for two Franklins, after it sat for 2-3 weeks, so go figure. Not pristine, but good condition overall.
Since craigslist is free, just list at $400 and be patient. Using the words "firm price" seems to keep the bottom feeders at bay. Parting out would get you your money back, but your IM is too pretty to subject it to that fate. Also, I hear several hundred southern Californians are being relocated to Georgetown as part of Toyota's HQ relocation.
Good luck!

Bradleykd , that is a really good looking IM , IMO if you are already not really sure if you want to part with it , then don't . Also you have inspired me to replace my white cage straps with black ones .

Definitely looks Ironmanish, however the white forks make it look cheaper somehow, and not in a good way. Whether it was company related to the Ironman seems like a good question for @T-Mar.
I've also have some 1987 specs for the Trionfo and the comparable Ironman Expert and it makes for interesting comparisons. The tubing and components are almost identical, right down to rims, bars and stem. The only difference are the tyres (same manufacturer but different model) and saddle (different manufacturers. This would make you think that it is a standard model from the same manufacturer, with some cost concessions.
However, there is a considerable difference in the geometry, with the Trionfo being notably more aggressive for the same size frame. The head and seat tube angles are a full degree steeper, the BB is 2.5 cm higher, the top tube is 1 cm longer, fork rake is 0.7 cm less and wheelbase is 0.4 cm less.
Of course, the only way to tell for sure if they are related would be via the serial number. Curiously, I had previously requested a serial number for a Trionfo, in this exact colour scheme, but never got a reply.

Hi all, I'm getting closer to completing my Miami Vice build! I'm still looking to buy a stem, a freewheel, and a chain. I have hunted down these items and would like your help to look over them and make sure they are going to fit/work with my setup, which is pretty close to the original 1987 Miami Vice.
Zenith quill stem, 60 mm, 22.0 mm quill, 130 mm quill height, 26.0 mm clamp (handlebar is 26.0 mm). Any thoughts on this particular stem? I was hoping to find a Nitto or SR Custom but no luck in finding one with the dimension that I need.
Zenith 26 0mm Clamp Quill Stem Silver All Sizes | eBay
Shimano MF-TZ20 Tourney Freewheel (14-28T 6 Speed)

KMC Z50 Bicycle Chain (6-7-Speed, 1/2 x 3/32-Inch, 116L)

Thanks in advance!
