Scott Laredo re-build
I guess this is not a true "vintage" bike, but this was given to me and, aside from some rust in the usual places, dry-rotted tires, and faded paint, it's in good shape. it appears to have not been ridden much, just ravaged by the elements.
here it is with the cables and chain removed. those were beyond hope.
I took it to Communicycle after work and stripped off all of the parts including the headset cups and bottom bracket. the BB is actually pretty smooth with a little surface rust. there is no rust inside the frame that I can see. I dismantled the hubs and re-built the wheels using new spoke nipples. I am going to try to keep it as original as possible accept for the parts that I can't use at all.
it cleaned up nicely after re-building the wheels.
I found some Altus 3x7 brake lever/shifters and some longer LX cranks for it. now all I need is to cable up the brakes and drivertrain and chain.
I can't seem to find anything about this bike, even on bikepedia. anyone know where I can find such info?
