Help ID Phillips 3 Speed Nottingham Black Mens

Hi. I'm looking for some help identifying my latest inheritance: a black, mens Phillips 3 speed with white area on head tube. I'm assuming it's a Raleigh model as the stamp says Nottingham (not Birmingham,) and the rear fender attachments are directly behind the dropouts (as per Sheldon Brown I believe). Chainring does not say "Phillips" and chain guard has no decals (possibly replaced?) Sturmey Archer AW hub has no date and plastic oil knob. It's missing the fenders. I can't find a serial number anywhere on the frame.

Anyhow, I've done a lot of searching but I can't figure out the year and model number. Mostly I'm just curious to know -- I'm deciding whether or not to try to rebuild this beast myself. (Any advice on that score would be appreciated too. I'm a novice bike mechanic.) It's a pretty sweet looking ride regardless.

Here are a couple Flickr pics from someone who I'm pretty sure has the same model:

Boy, that's just about a dead ringer for mine. It's a '72, though they made the like this for many years. Is there a date stamp on the rear hub?
As found;

I'm looking closer. You've got a different headbadge, or is mine a little faded?;

I think that's it! I would've guessed earlier than '72, but for no particular reason. There's no date stamp that I can see on the rear hub. I think the head badge on mine is the same as yours, and the hardware looks quite similar (minus those wingnut axle bolts!)

Anyhow, thanks for sharing sailorbenjamin. I love your ride by the way. I'm assuming you found it worthwhile to fix it up a bit. Right out of the cellar mine feels very solid and fun to ride.

Yeah, I really like mine a lot. It's really just a Raleigh Sport with prettier decals. I was looking at my headbadge today in the sunlight. I think it's the same but a faded to silver.
Mine's not really good for reference because I've changed most of the parts in one way or another. The frame and decals are stock, though, so's the chainring, i think.
