Which bike do I let go? Help me decide!
So I ended up buying 3 new bikes in one week, which makes a total of 4. However I don't have enough space in my room for the lot. Also, if I keep em, one or two would get ignored and collect dust. The 3 are almost identical in size and all fit/ride great. So help me decide which one to let go and explain why!
http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/2226/allofem.jpg and this don't show the other side of the room :] here goes:: 1989 Peugeot Athena - Columbus SLX Size: 50.5st x 52.5tt Serial#: Y9041309 My first bicycle shop purchase of a complete bike! thanks to a tip from Sjpitts (Thanks!) I was able to pick this up. This is my first columbus tubed frame with Columbus SLX. Contrary to it's model name, it was built up with complete Dura Ace 7400 except for the front Hub which is 105. http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/8053/peugeotfull.jpg http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/5443/peugeotlug.jpg http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/9109/peugeotbars.jpg 1984 Performance Superbe - Tange 1 Size: 51.5st x 53.5tt Serial#: N4S0229 My first Ebay purchase of a complete bike! A fairly unknown bike, built by performance cycles back in the day. I couldn't even find a catalog for this frame. The bike has surprisingly nice Tange 1 tubing. It has Suntour Superbe Pro components, SR Royal stem, and a cool Bernard Hinault Turbo Saddle. http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/872...rmancefull.jpg http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/79/performancelug.jpg http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/2...rmancebars.jpg 1984 Fuji Opus III - Quad-Butted Cr-Mo Size: 51st x 53tt Serial#: C447 My first complete bike from a trade, with Sjpitts (thanks again!) I believe this is a handmade frame and just under the Fuji Professional. It has quad-butted Cr-Mo tubing and is fitted with Suntour Superbe/Pro. Some of nice components include a Nitto Pearl stem and Sugino Mighty Seatpost. I do still need to find a nice wheelset for it as it has a miss matched one. http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/1940/fujifull.jpg http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/7618/fujilug.jpg http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/4044/fujibars.jpg |
and.. I would never let my 3rensho but just showing off the new Groupset :D :D
1983 3rensho Super Record Export - Ishiwata Seamless CrMo This bike originally had Suntour Superbe, then I put on 8spd Campy Chorus. But neither of the groups did it for me asthetically. Finally I scored a beautiful C-Record group. Btw, I think it's 1993 but please help me confirm, Serial code: A1-480 #9531 http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/2347/3resnshofull.jpg http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/6192/3rensholug.jpg http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/240/3renshobars.jpg |

I can still see the floor where you are, so I'd say you're a long way from running out of space. (Plus, you have a bunch of wasted air space right up to the ceiling). -I wouldn't want to contemplate giving up any one of those beauties! |
Peugeot would be gone first. Second would be the Fuji (sorry guys).
Personally I like the Performace Superbe the most after the 3Rensho. I have a softspot for super nice bikes that sneak in under the radar. |
the fuji would be gone first for me,
i'm not a huge french bike fan or anything, but that peugeot in slx is cool, in the sense that i've never seen a peugeot in slx before or columbus, the majority i see are reynolds or the crappy carbolite |

What size is the pug? There might be a bf member local who would buy it from you... who happens to enjoy French Bikes...

Lol. |
Fuji gone first. But keep the seatpost and crank at least. Especially that crank...

i take it you don't like the french?

As much as I admire Fuji bikes, i'd ditch the opus.
|
Could you guys tell me why you would get rid of one or why you would keep the others? Is it the brand, frame tubing, parts, condition, etc. I'd love to hear about it

I believe all 3 are about 51 seat tube x 53 top tube. I'll try to measure tonight and update post#1.

I was really hoping you were going to say they were much too big for me, but that is just about perfect size.

They are all nice acquisitions. Tough call, but then again 4 bikes is not storage issue to me. Call back when it hits 14. LOL!
Time to put hooks into your garage and get them off the ground. I think you can fit quite a few into it, including your modern rides, and track bikes. Yeah, that 3Rensho is a keeper. Gorgeous, it was sweet when the Superbe was on it. Since it's top shelf Japanese, hand crafted frameset, the other two Japanese (and likely production frames) bikes are redundant. I'd part with the Performance first, the OPUS III next. The Peugeot is European, and SLX, worth keeping if it fits and is sitting at the other end of the spectrum. Ironic the groups are the opposite... |

I have got to say keep the Pug, that bike has a name #1, quality tubing #2, personal time with the owner #3, and #4 it kicks a$$, and it is French. The Performance bike is a mail order bike from a large order factory, not that Tange #1 is bad, #2 it has no name recognition, unlike an Ironman, #3 not even a spot of chrome or cool paint. The Fuji would be second to go but you said you have space for 3.
|
I would check the # on the Performance frame to see if it was made by Giant, it looks a lot like an Ironman.

Whats this mean? Btw, the chain stays are chrome on the Performance Superbe :) Edit* I also update Post#1 with serial #'s & measurements |
I'd get rid of the boxes you have stacked up along the wall, you will have plenty of room for the bikes... |
you wouldn't happen to have a bike box would you Irvri? need to ship a frame to another bf member

Haha, yeah I haven't figured out how to drill hooks onto my ceiling yet. Maybe I should read up on that.
