The one that got away

Post 'em up.

I meant to bid on this little gem, but my watch stopped working and I arrived at ebay too late:

And the crimped chainstays and nervex lug combination. Super rare.

Gold plated Colnago....I offered $800-ish, the seller wanted $900-ish. I should have bought it.

I don't have photos of it, but there was an 80s vintage 65cm Bruce Gordon touring frame with matching racks, on ebay about 6 months ago. It was local to me, and went for somewhere around $400. It was a real nice piece.

Shoulda woulda coulda

I have those brakes and FD I'll sell to you if it'll make you feel any better. $500, and don't lowball me unless you want to relive your remorse.

Had an agreement to buy a Masi GC for bargain price. Arrangements made for me to pickup and seller got squirrelly. Told him if he had a better offer just tell me and take the money as I was maxed out. He dicked around for two more weeks and finally after some more squirreliness, I said I did not trust him and backed out. Then the guy goes off, saying I was an a##hole (I can be, but not this time). Told me he turned down more money for me and I responded with what did I tell you three weeks ago? Take the money, let me know.

It was a De Rosa, somebody just spray painted it and added Panasonic labels so it doesn't get stolen!

I found a really nice (almost unridden) 94'ish Chesini with Campy Record 8 speed on CL a week or two ago but it was a couple hours away. By the time I could make arrangements to go pick it up another buyer had snatched it up for his kid to start riding. Oh well, hopefully the kid enjoys it.

Back when I was considering the first SS/FG, a Fuji Obey frame was on ebay. Passed on it because I couldn't afford it and then have to track down the gold components to put it back into it's original form. Didn't take a picture from a download of the auction. Knew it would only depress me for not having gotten it. Here's somebody else's that I can dream of as a Grail bike.

I think that it's likely a Motobécane -- Grand something-or-other from the 70s. Hard to tell if JYB is being ironic or not. I have so much bike stuff that I don't feel bad if I forget to bid, or lose a "deal." I console myself that we're all better off for it.

I missed one of those splatter paint Paramounts for 50.00. I had the money but it was 2 hours away and I was @ work. I should have left right when I saw it.
