Merckx Corsa Extra bb question
so i recently picked up a merckx and the cranks are too long for me. i want to go to 165's but it seems hard to find. i found sugino rd2's which are marketed as single speed cranks that you can use as a double. my question is, they recommend a 110 bottom bracket for english bb's but what size would i go to for an italian bb? my current cranks are dura ace 7402's in 172.5 and i believe it has a 113mm bb. any help would be appreciated!

I would first try the crank on your current bb as it is only 1.5mm longer per side, and will most likely work just fine.

Yes, a crank that requests a 110 will usually work just fine on a 113.
However, there's a better crank option than that Sugino, especially if you really need 165 arms. I have a set of NEW Dura Ace 7700 cranks with 165 arms. Team issue (has the fancy schmancy SHIMANO logo on them in large letters), 53/39 rings and pretty much perfect condition. You'll need an italian thread Shimano Octalink V1 (MUST be V1) BB in 109.5 width. I use the 105 series ones, they seem less expensive but work fine, last forever and are easily located on eBay.
Not cheap, but an ideal crankset for that frame with the crank arm length you desire, and it's D-A that will come close to matching your 7402 stuff. PM me if interested.
