Old Schwinn
I have an old Schwinn I found in my barn. Its really old. Not sure how old though and would like some help identifying it. I can't find the serial number. When I found it 10 years ago, i stripped all the parts and painted it with rustoleum so it wouldn't rust until I could restore it. Now I want to start working on it and am wondering if it is worth fixing up, or should I ride it as is? Can I find parts for it like a new skip-link chain?

That head badge and frame style sure is cool. Is it salvagable or too rusted?

I don't think the bead blaster will damage the frame. These things were made from some pretty stout steel. My two cents worth anyway. Very cool bike and a great find!

Nah, a bead blaster won't hurt that frame any. I'd cover the headstock badge with a few layers of tape, though.

Ok, I got the bike apart and have it bead-blasted (looks awesome). I just put the read hub back together. Seems to be in good shape. I would like to rebuild as many bearings as I can. Any idea where to get headset, bottom bracket, and pedals for this thing?

There are a couple guys who frequent the Schwinn forums that deal in these old bikes. You might try posting there. Memory Lane is another possibility for parts.
