I would like to see a more sharply drawn line for the bike paths in streets. I agree about MUP use, but there just isn't room in a narrow lane to share with joggers, dogs and skate boarders. I don't mind when they act in a considerate manner, but I've been finding the skaters, as a group, do not. If everyone I passed on a red bike was riding like a jerk, I'd have a goofy rant that kvetched about red bikes.

Honestly, I've been finding that I go out of my way now to avoid paths. I've had more problems in paths, skaters included, than I have in traffic and riding to the right.

I have to say that I never really understood the appeal of Rollins/Black Flag either. I always found them immensely boring...and the few good songs, like TV Party, are the exception. I know Black Flag are indie sacred cows, but I don't get it.

Like a blast furnace live!

Some of my favorite shows were bills with Hüsker Dü and the Descendants.

Precisely why they're a bad idea. I would avoid them like the plague but, thankfully there aren't any for hundreds of miles. What say we get a little VC discussion going over here?

Oh and bike lanes and paths are a waste of time. Traffic is a part of life. I have had more trouble on the Philly bike paths than I have ever had in the road.

...and Grant and Greg.

Greg hired me to work at my first record store gig.

A store called Northern Lights in STP.

The Hüskers practiced in the basement and my brother and I hung out and listened to their practice sessions.

At one point they were a four piece!

You damn kids today!

I never got that into skating - I broke my arm trying it when I was 8 (Nash executioner!) and just never got over it. I hung out with some of the skate kids for music interests, but I was more of a nerd...and definitely more into cycling. Maybe it was because I never saw Black Flag live...on album they didn't do much for me. The Minutemen jumped at me...Husker Du jumped at me...Black Flag? Not so much. Rollins just seemed like an idiot and I couldn't help but think if I'd been in a class with him, he'd have beaten me up.

I'm still jealous that you hung with Westerberg and Co.

I'd rather chat bands personally. I thought the topic would be funny here and not end up in an a/s - VC rant. I'm not on an anti-bike lane crusade and I don't ride on highways or in the center of the lane.

Band chat is common ground!

I'm always available to dispense Minneapolis band lore.

Lots of Replacements memories. Most unfortunately first hand.

Have way too much to share.

Hell Aaron, I barely know you and even I want to beat you up.

As far as all of these references you folks are making in these posts, I am entirely lost. I guess the many years of my listening to bluegrass music has bent my perspective forever.

I really believe it boils down to people being rude in general. Cyclist,
Skaters, skiers, snowboarders, etc. All have good and not so good.

Cheers,
Chris

I enjoy some Bill Monroe from time to time. I even have some Flatt and Scruggs on the iPod...and more than just the Beverly Hillbillies!

Yesterday I had two riding abreast taking the entire lane. I politely tried passing and was intentionally blocked. Plenty of peds and cyclists are jerks as well, but the skate kids seem to be a uniquely annoying and growing group.

Your response is in line with what I've encountered with these kids.
You sound just like a motorist whining about cyclists. Just like.

Quit whining and HTFU. The world is not an uninterrupted string of victories, sunshine and puppy kisses. when you go out in the world, you are implicitly agreeing to have the world act upon you, perhaps in ways you don't like. It's called "Life," and there's a support group. It's everybody, and they meet at the bar.

Better skateboards/skaters than joggers with earbuds screwed in.
Or, God forbid, horses!

Little bit.

They were the mid to late metal/glam band.

Their lead singer was Chainsaw Caine.

I was working at Twin Tone and Twin City Imports at this time.

I recall they were super loud, kind of like a 747 landing on your head.

I was somewhat surprised they didn't get huge.

Well, their backup guitarist is a big bike guy, he's got a serious booner for classic Italian stuff. Rides with the Greenway patrol most nights. Really, really nice guy. Gyroscope engineer now of all things.
