Trying to Identify Viking Bike
Just been googling and found this forum. I hope I've posted this message correctly and am looking for some help.
I've got a Viking bike which was my dad's old one. He had found it rusting in someone's garden and repainted it. Since then I've put all new parts on it, which might not please the restorers, but I've now got a good low-geared touring bike.
Based on when he got it, I think the bike was made in the late 1950s but I've no idea what model it is. The head badge is a full sail version as per the one on the right near the bottom of the Viking Museum website, just above the paragraph starting 'Sadly for Reg'.

Can anyone tell me how I might find out what model it is. The frame number has been overpainted and is difficult to read although I can pick out some characters.
The top tube has pump lugs, also the rear brake cable passes through the rear one.

Photos, please! A Viking is definitely on my wish list. My wife is from Wolverhampton, and we have lots of friends there.

Okay. You need to head over to the ClassicLightweights forum. There are some serious Viking people over there.
https://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/avtviking.html
You can drop a note to the moderator, and he'll put you right.
The Classic Rendezvous site also has Viking info, and a number of Viking experts.

Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!

I've had a lot of help towards identifying the frame. Based on the type of Nervex lugs, head badge and seat post diameter, it's almost certainly a Mileater. I've sent off the frame number and other details from the dropouts, so hopefully the model will be confirmed soon, although I'm not sure whether it can be dated but I'm hoping it can be narrowed a bit within the years 1952 - 1959.
