Weird Spoke patterns

Weird Spoke patterns
i had an urge to look at some porn just now, bike porn that is so i ventured onto Velospace.org.
I saw a really nice eddy merckx track bike proceed to see what else this guy had in his collection that he had listed on velospace.
I saw this gold Cinelli so i clicked on it, it's pretty blingy, i like things that stand out, but even this may be much for me.
One thing i noticed was this guy's spoke pattern. take a look at the wheel, that can't be good for your spokes... i would be a little scared to ride on something like that.
feel free to post any weird spoked patterned bikes.

I have seen a number of examples of fancy spoke patterns and have wondered about their stability. Assuming that you can get them true with sufficient spoke tension, they should be ok, but it may be a nightmare if they can't maintain their trueness.

Twisted spokes were an attempt to stiffen the wheel, much the same as tying and soldering. It was fairly popular in the UK during the early 1990s, primarily among the ATB fraternity. The theory was that the twisting created a super wide flange hub, without a weight penalty. The rigidity could reportedly be tailored by how tightly the spokes were twisted and the number of twists. It was fairly common to employ titanium spokes using this pattern. Titanium spokes are lighter but not as stiff, so this construction results in lighter wheels with supposedly superior stiffness.
