I thought da 7403 hubs were uniglide AND hyperglide compatible
The hub shell diameter is too wide for the DA 8 speed uniglide 12t cog. It just sits there like a poorly fitting hat.
Should have checked /before/ replacing the hub... overly confident after miamijim's excellent post about DA 74XX differences... which I obviously did not read closely, since I would've read that:
Is/Was there ever there a DA 8 speed cassette that would fit on the 7403?
This will work right?

"Although this hub is Uni-Glide I dont believe its 1st and 2nd cog interchange with the 7400 or 7402 hubs due to difference in threaded area diameters."

The HG cog in the link should work. Any 12t HG cog should work but I'm not sure about 11t. Rumor was that the 7402 had the small UG locking cog to allow an 11t cog so perhaps the 7403 will take an 11t HG cog as well? I don't have a 7403 so I can't say, but I do have a 7402 so if you have no use for the old UG locking cog, let me know

There is what looks like a DA 8-speed HG cassette on this bike although it's a 12t.

I'm on the fence on whether I should just get a 12t HG cog and use this cassette or just get a HG cassette and leave this one with the UG hub. I imagine it would be easier to sell the hub with a good condition 8 speed cassette as opposed to by itself. Opinions?

I've got a Ti DA 12-19 HG that I'm running on a set of of DA hubs that will take either of the HG/UG.
This is the first time it's been a useful for a topic other than at rides when people bust my chops about it.

yep...
cloned the 8-speeds cassette with ultegra and dura ace cogs and the original 3mm spacers... works great.
